Y/N stomped up the stairs from the docks to the now-in-shambles school. She sighed as she reached the final step, explosions flying against the walls of the buildings, yelling and loud ruckus coming from the inside. The atmosphere was definitely silent even though professors and older students ran around adding to the whir of the moment. Y/N's gaze swept across the crowded environment. There, amongst the chaos, was Hermione, her face contorted with grief. Y/N's heart sank, and her feet seemed to move on their own, carrying her swiftly towards Hermione. Without hesitation, she enveloped her trembling form in a tight embrace. "Thank Merlin, you're okay," She whispered to the girl. "You too. I have to go now and find Ron," Y/N nodded. "Stay safe," She replied quietly and with that, Hermione turned and vanished into the crowd. Y/N cautiously stepped into the Great Hall, her eyes scanning her surroundings. It was considerably quieter now, the once chaotic din replaced by a sullen hush. There was much more wizards and witches than before, causing the hall to be overcrowded.

Grieving individuals sat scattered throughout the room, their faces downcast and shoulders slumped in sorrow. Her gaze swept the hall, searching frantically for a familiar face. As Y/N's eyes fell upon him, her breath caught in her throat, the air knocked out of her lungs. Y/N tried to run through the people but failed and turned to just pushing everyone aside. The exhaustion was getting to her and with stumbling steps she finally made it to the Weasleys. Time seemed to slow to a crawl as the full weight of the situation settled upon her. This must be a nightmare, just a cruel jest. Fred lay on the cold floor, his body motionless. Ron's knees gave away, crumpling him to the ground with an anguished sob that echoed through the silent hall. Molly was hovering over Fred's body, gently brushing her fingers through his tousled hair. An endless amount of tears streamed down Y/N's cheeks, she lifted her gaze and met George's. In an instant, she was wrapped in his familiar arms. With every shuddering breath, George tightened his embrace around Y/N, their bodies moulded together in a desperate effort to find comfort. He buried his face in her shoulder, his sobs wracking his body. Y/N felt the dampness of George's tears against her skin, and the weight of his pain bore down upon them, a shared burden that threatened to drown them both in despair. "He can't, it's not-" He choked out, anguish lacing his every breath.

Y/N wasn't able to grieve with her fiancée and his family for long before Ron came rushing, completely drenched from whatever business he was up to and urged Y/N with him. George stopped Y/N from leaving, his grasp on her hands tightening. "Don't go, love," He pleaded, his eyes sad and red from crying. "I have to, George," She replied with a reassuring but small smile. "What if I don't see you ever again?" The redhead questioned. "You will, I promise, love," Y/N grasped George's hand for a second to assure the tall man before he let go with a sigh and Y/N dashed off. She had no idea where she should go since Ron had stayed with his family. She saw Minerva McGonagall run to the main entrance. "Miss Y/N!" The professor yelled. "Thank Merlin, you are here. Do you have your wand with you?" She questioned and Y/N took the object out of her pocket. "Great. We need help with the defence shield, professor Lupin needs help, he should be somewhere in the towers." Minerva yelled as she continued walking to the entrance. "Got it... Stay safe, professor!" Y/N replied with a yell and then, even though exhaustion was starting to really cause some problems, she ran to the tower staircase.

"Professor Lupin!" Y/N screamed as she arrived at the tower. A Death Eater had already been there and both Lupin and Tonks were on the hard stone floor, their hands interlocked as they stared at the ceiling. "Fuck," Y/N stumbled towards the bodies, her wand falling to the floor as she collapsed next to them, tears spilling from her eyes. "Please, please," She pleaded quietly as she crawled towards Lupin and Tonks, going to check their pulse. It was still. "Fuck." Y/N let her head hang as she tried to wipe the rivers falling from her eyes. It was too much. She wished for it to be over. Everything. All she wanted was to be back in 1st year and enjoy a carefree life. The war had caused so many losses to her. Just then, a completely black owl arrived and flew straight on Lupin, a dark envelope in its beak. "What is it now," Y/N said to herself, annoyance evident as she recognized the owl. Y/N got up and took the letter and shooed the owl off. After grabbing her wand, she stopped for a brief moment, contemplating whether or not to read the letter. Y/n began opening the envelope and then with a swift move, the letter flew with grace out of the tower's window. She didn't look back as her steps fastened, rushing down the stairs again, trying to accept another death.

At the bottom of the grand staircase that was also losing shape, Y/N met Neville. His face was dirtied, cheeks red from running as he neared her. "Y/N, thank-" Neville took a deep breath to steady himself. "You're alive," He finished his sentence. He was wearing his usual grandpa cardigan as his right hand held his wand and the left held the Gryffindor Sword. "Where are you running t-" Y/N began to question but right at the moment, Nagini slid its way towards them. If it wasn't for Neville's fast moves with the sword, both of them would've ended right there. The Gryffindor Sword pierced right through the snake as the animal evaporated into thin air, leaving a cloud of dark grey dust behind it. Y/N's eyes were wide as Neville eyed her in shock. "What just happened?" Y/N questioned in disbelief as her hand was placed on Neville's shoulder who was unable to say anything yet. "Y/N!" Hermione yelled from the staircase. "Where's Harry?" Hermione asked as the girls backed away from their hug. "I have no clue. I thought he came to you two?" Y/N questioned, her eyebrow raised as she eyed a very dishevelled Ron.

The trio ran to the completely in-shambles courtyard. Hagrid was walking behind Voldemort, a familiar black-haired boy in his grasp. "Harry Potter's dead!" Voldemort announced and then Y/N completely lost it as she fell to the ground, hanging between consciousness and unconsciousness. Black spots appeared before her sight as she tried to make out the shape of Harry. It was a blur for her for the next 10 minutes as she tried to gain her composure. The last thing Y/N saw was Draco joining his parents before she completely blacked out. All Y/N could do now was hope for the best. Y/N woke up thankfully not long after Voldemort was defeated. She was in the Great Hall as well, the Weasleys now gathered around her with the addition of Harry and Hermione. "What-" Y/N tried to say but watching Harry's expression, the answer seemed already good. Voldemort was finally dead, he couldn't cause any harm anymore. Many lives were lost but many were still alive and the memory of them continued to exist in their closest minds.
