George smiled as he saw the girl skip down the corridor. She was beaming with a smile as well and it made his heart ache. George didn't know when or why but he had fallen and fallen hard for the girl. The redhead eyed her from the corner of his eye as she went to Cedric and hugged the Hufflepuff student. He knew they were close and George just couldn't keep the jealousy when the girl was there, smiling at Cedric's jokes. George turned away with an annoyed sigh and focused back on his twin who was blabbering about a prank. In any other circumstance, George would've listened but seeing Y/N there, in his view, took his attention completely. "Earth to George," Fred nudged his brother in hopes of gaining his attention but to no avail. "Can you stop ogling her?" Fred said, getting frustrated at his brother. "Sorry,"
Now, George smiled again as Y/N was walking towards him. The death of Cedric had changed a lot between them. Of course, he was saddened by the event but sometimes George found himself thinking that maybe it was for the greater good, especially after the girl had told him about Cedric's future plans with her. It was wrong to feel like that but otherwise, they wouldn't be going to Hogsmeade together every weekend. "Hi," Y/N greeted, standing next to the redhead. "Good evening, love. Ready to go?" His question earned a giggle from the girl. "Always." Y/N replied and then George wrapped his arm around her as the pair began the hike to Hogsmeade. The boy valued the dates, even if platonic. They brought a sense of comfort during the intense times in the Wizarding World and Umbridge's dictation. "Have your scars healed?" Y/N asked after a bit, glancing at his arm. "They're almost gone," The redhead replied and pulled the sleeve of his coat up. The detentions were horrible and almost every student had suffered through them by December.
The Three Broomsticks Inn was bustling as always, mostly with students from Hogwarts. Y/N and George sat in their usual corner seat, the whole room in sight. As she looked around, eyeing the clients, George's eyes were only on her. The way her eyes glistened in the dim lighting, the way her breathing was slow and the slight redness on her cheeks from the cold air outside. The redhead sighed as he knew he was definitely in love. Not that he hadn't realised it before. "Is everything alright, George?" Y/N questioned, her attention on the boy next to her. "You are less talkative than usual," The girl added and took a sip of her Butterbeer. "Sorry, dear. Thinking about the school," It was a hard lie but admitting the obvious was too tough for him. "What are you worrying about? It's Friday," The girl said with a chuckle. "A long weekend ahead," George laughed, his smile making a reappearance again. "The exams are slowly creeping upon me. I'm not even sure if I'll pass these, considering what the snake is doing," He replied with a sigh. "But you are right. I should stop over-worrying," The redhead sighed and grabbed his empty glass.
During their date at the inn, it turned dark, usual for a December evening. It was snowing as well which made the walk back harder as the trail was filled with snow. George and Y/N walked quietly until the girl stopped and kneeled on the ground. A moment later George was hit by a snowball to his back. "Hey!" He exclaimed and gathered a ball of snow to return the sudden attack. She laughed childishly as she rushed to grab enough snow. The redhead returned a ball towards her, throwing it gently so as not to hurt her. George's kindness was not answered as another snowball hit his stomach with such force he fell to the snow, laughing. "Oh, George!" Y/N said, worried, as she rushed to the redhead. With a slight tug from the boy, the girl lost balance and fell straight on top of him, both of them laughing loudly. "I thought you got hurt," She exclaimed through the laughing. "Me? Get hurt? Never," George replied and noticed how her eyes were on her. Time stopped for a moment as he stared into her eyes, full of admiration.
They leaned into each other in unison, forgetting everything around them. "Lovebirds!" Fred yelled from afar, his tall figure in the distance. "Oh for Merlin's-" George yelled back as Y/N began laughing again. "I think we should go. Before he comes and drags us back," The girl said and pulled away, already standing. As much as George would've liked to stay there in the snow with her he knew they had to go back. With a loud sigh, the redhead got up as well and smiled. She enlaced his hand in a strong grip, a smile on her face. "Thank you for the evening," Y/N mumbled as they neared the school, the lights from the windows making the snow shine. "What are you thanking me for?" George questioned with a chuckle as he squeezed her hand gently. "You made the evening magnificent, not me," The boy added and suddenly hugged the girl.
