chapter forty two

White house bound

Pandora's point of view

I woke up early enough to get a shower before I left the apartment so I could talk with dad about giving Luke a job as a security guard at the office. I made sure Riley was fed before I left and noticed that Luke was still sleeping so I decided not to bother him and headed downstairs and waited for Andre to pick me up so he could take me to where my dad's private jet was and got a flight to the white house so I could meet with him.

After I arrived, I was immediately escorted inside and headed to where his office was while noticing that he was meeting with Theodore's father so I decided to wait until the finished talking with him about Theo and Brit's wedding.

President Hardy: the make a beautiful couple, even though I wished my daughter would have married your son but I can't force her to marry someone who I don't approve of and this Luke person she is with probably loves her since she has money.

Theo's dad: I spoke with my son and he told me that he and Pandora both decided that they remain friends.

I cleared my throat and seen my dad look over at me even though I fought back the tears, he noticed that I was upset by hearing what he just said about my relationship with Luke.

Pandora: as much as I love you dad, I know you expected to marry Theo but we agreed to be friends because he's been in love with Britney since we were in college together and I would never force him to be with me knowing he was in love with her. Why can't you just be happy for me dad?

President Hardy: because he isn't one of us Pandora and I refuse to see you be with someone like him.

Pandora: someone like him? I remember distinctly that you were just like him before you become the President of this country.

President Hardy: that's not the same thing Pandora.

Pandora: is it different? I watched you struggle to pay bills some days just so I could eat, so what if Luke is a rancher? He would do anything for our son even if it means going out of his way to make sure he is fed and I wish you would get to know him before he judge him when you were in his shoes not that long ago. I come here hoping that you would get a chance to show you how hard of a worker he could be but now I know where you stand.

President Hardy: I know that you're going to be with him despite what I want for you but you work for me and as your boss, I want to remind you that you wouldn't have that apartment if it wasn't for me.

Pandora: I don't need that apartment or your job, you can have them both but I will not stop being with Luke just because he doesn't have money like you and I do. I come here hoping you would give him a job at the office but I won't waste your time anymore.

Theo's dad: I heard enough, Philip I usually don't disagree with you about anything but you're daughter is right, you should get to know the man that won your daughter's heart. I was content on hearing the news about her marrying my son just like you were but they're both adults now, as father's we did our job and raised them to be who they are today but they aren't kids anymore, they have to make their own decisions now and if they make mistakes they will learn from those mistakes.

President Hardy: I know that I haven't really been supportive of you since your mother left us Pandora. I just don't want you ending up like she did now that you have a child of your own and Luke he hurt you before and I don't want him doing that again.

Pandora: we both hurt each other dad but the love we have is real and I don't want you hating him when you don't know a single thing about him, I love him dad and I do want you to be in our lives but most importantly I want you to be in your grandson's life and your future grandchild's life if Luke and I decide to have another baby.

President Hardy: he really means that much to you doesn't he?

Pandora: yes dad, I am going to marry him one day.

President Hardy: if he means that much to you then I will give him a chance, I will be there at the apartment sometime in the next couple of days so we could sit down and talk during dinner.

Pandora: like you were supposed to last night? I waited for you at the restaurant for over an hour and you never showed up. All I wanted was for us to catch up since we don't see much of each other these days.

President Hardy: I planned on being there but I had a very important meeting to be at and I couldn't postpone it.

Pandora: I won't hold my breath to see you show up at the apartment for dinner since all of this is more important than spending time with me or your grandson.

I was about to leave when I seen him pick up the phone and call his secretary.

President Hardy: hey Juniper, cancel any plans I have for tomorrow, I will be spending the day with my daughter and her family.

He quickly hung up the phone and walked over to me.

President Hardy: I'm sorry that I haven't been spending time with you but that is going to change. I hope you can forgive me for putting you on the back burner but I do have a country to run.

Pandora: I'm not asking you to give up your duties to this country but I do want you to spend time with your grandson more than anything.

President Hardy: and does Luke want the security guard job?

Pandora: he will be okay with any job as long as it means he can provide for his son.

President Hardy: give him the job as a security guard and I know that he is probably healthy but I would like him to gain some muscle so he can handle anyone who might be a threat to the company.

Pandora: I will let him know that the job is his. Thank you dad, I will see you tomorrow.

I gave him a hug before I headed back to where the private jet was sitting.

Pandora: I love you dad.

President Hardy: I love you too sweetheart.
