"Renata, are you okay?" Sam asked after training. She had lost each and every single sparring match she had that day. It was not like her.
"Yeah, I think it's just not my day today. I'm sorry, Sam, I'll try to focus more," Renata smiled at him as he left towards the house.
Sam smiled at her and messed her hair before walking away to the house. Renata took big glups of water to calm the rumbling in her stomach. She entered the house and saw Embry, Jared and Paul wolfing down Emily's cooking. She smiled at them and grabbed an apple before going to her room. She ate the apple while tidying up her room a bit, and grabbing a hoodie and a pair of volleyball shorts and going to the shower.
"You're not eating, dear?" Emily asked her when she saw her walking into the bathroom.
"I'd rather take a shower first. You know how they leave the bathroom after they shower," Renata joked. She honestly didn't know what the guys did to splash water into outside of the shower and making a mini pool inside the bathroom.
"Okay," Emily laughed, "I'll leave the food in the casserole to keep it warm, then" Renata pressed her lips and nodded quickly.
Truth was, Renata was probably not gonna eat Emily's amazing cooking, as much as she loved it. Jacob's words had taken a toll on Renata's mind. "You're lucky you're still hot," he had said. So Renata wondered, he was already losing interest in her? what if her weight gain made him lose interest completely? So she decided to do something about it. The mornings she left early, it was not to have breakfast with her friends, but rather to be able to get to school, change into her gym clothes, and run around the school grounds, and do some more exercise before taking a shower and meeting her friends right before class. She had been spent some days at lunch with Nina, Neza and Andrea, and she'd eat a piece of fruit, and say she'd had a big breakfast, but they had started to catch on to what she was doing, and they looked at her suspiciously. So she went back to having lunch with the guys and told them she had a very big breakfast so she wasn't hungry. They found it weird but didn't question her. Some days, she would skip lunch when Jacob asked her to go to the supply closet behind the school... she never said no anymore, not aloud. She'd skip lunch at home by getting there late, saying she'd eaten with Jacob, and after training, she'd usually go to bed to right after her shower to be able to skip dinner. Sometimes it worked, but sometimes Emily would insist on her eating dinner; she'd eat the food and thank Emily for it, and the next day, she'd train extra hours to make up for the food she'd eaten.
She got confirmation that what she was doing was working, Jacob had mentioned she looked better now that she had lost some weight. She looked at her body in the bathroom mirror and found it disgusting. It was not enough. So she covered the mirror with a towel and entered the shower. When she finished, she put on the clothes she had taken in with her and dried her hair with the towel. She got out of the bathroom and went to sit by the others, taking small sips of water. She saw that Sam was on the phone, and he looked worried. She turned on her powers and was able to listen to what he was saying.
"Are you sure?" There was a pause, "in which direction?" He nodded and hung up the phone before returning inside, "we have to go, the red leech was spotted in Port Angeles. "
They all got up immediately, Renata put on her Nike sneakers and called Leah mentally. She was there by the time they had gotten out of the house after saying bye to Emily. The boys shifted and waited for Sam to give the order.
"Embry, are you okay?" Renata asked him. It's the first time he would interact with a vampire. He whimpered and lowered his ears.
What if I don't know what to do? He asked, looking up at Renats and pressing his head against her.
