Chapter 18

Mike and Renata had to go to the office because her locker just wouldn't open. Even Emmet had volunteered to help but he couldn't open it unless they wanted to rip it open, which they definitely didn't want. Meanwhile, Jacob waited patiently for Renata in the parking lot. Smiling like a fool to himself. Bella got out of the building before Renata could fix the problem with her locker, and saw Jacob waiting. Bella took a deep breath and mentalised herself, she still remembered what he told her a few months back, to break up with Edward, that he wasn't good for her. Of course, he only said it because Billy told him to, but still. She didn't know, however, that Jacob was thinking about Renata and not her.

"Hey, Jake" Bella told him as she got near his motorcycle.

"Oh, hi, Bells. How's your leg? Last time I saw you it was in recovery, right?" Jacob told her.

"Yeah, it's much better now. I went to therapy and all, so uh- what brings you here?" Bella asked curiously.

"I'm actually waiting for someone-" Jacob smiled and looked down. Just thinking about Renata made him smile. Bella noticed it, she wondered whether it was herself he was waiting for or somebody else. She also noticed that he had his long hair tied in a bun, and he was taller than the last time she saw him. Jacob looked back up to see the school's entrance, his smile widened as he saw her short hair emerge through the door, Renata was exiting with a blonde guy he didn't know, they were laughing, and for some reason, it made him angry.

"Thanks for the help, Mike, see you tomorrow" Renata called as Mike went to where Jessica was. Renata looked up and saw Jacob waiting for her, Renata's smile grew and reached her eyes, "Jake!" Renata exclaimed and ran to where he was, Jacob forgot his jealousy and got off his bike, forgetting Bella, and going to meet Renata half way. They hadn't seen each other since their kiss. Renata jumped to Jacob's arms and he held her tight. Once he put her down, Renata looked up to see him and he leaned down go kiss her. Renata was surprised in a good way and returned the kiss, smiling into it.

"Uhm, I wanted to wait until we were eating but, uh-" Jacob said nervously.

"Yes?" Renata asked him, searching his eyes.

"Would you be my girlfriend?" Jacob asked quietly, almost as if he didn't want Renata to listen. He took out a necklace with a wolf howling at the moon wooden charm from his pocket.

"I'd love to" Renata told him as quietly as he had asked.

Jacob was beaming with pride as soon as he heard her say it. He had been so nervous to ask and now that nervousness seemed nonsense. He had thought all night about it, wondering if it was the right call. He was really in love with Renata, and the way she kissed him the week prior was proof enough for him that she felt something for him.

"Let me put this on" Jacob told her and helped her clasp the necklace around her neck.

"It's really beautiful, Jake" Renata told him and hugged him tightly by the waist. He held her close. His girlfriend. He would never get tired of it.

"Shall we go?" Jake asked her.

"Please! I'm starving!" Renata said dramatically.

"You always are" Jake told her and laughed. He turned around for his motorcycle and saw Bella still standing there awkwardly, "uhm, Bella, have you met Renata?" Jacob asked just as awkwardly.

"Yeah, we met today, congratulations, guys" Bella told them and smiled at them.

"Thanks, Bella" Renata said and pulled her for a hug so no one would hear what she was about to say "see? I told you I had no interest in Edward. You and me can be friends if you are willing to try" Renata muttered at her ear and she felt Bella's arms also wrap around her, then she nodded, "see you later, Bella" Renata told her as she got behind Jacob in the motorcycle.
