Renata insisted that Leah and her were alone in the camping trip, she still didn't know about the wolves and the pack didn't know it was Leah who was next in line to be a shaman. Sam agreed, on the condition that they had to be within range in case something happened. Renata ended up choosing the Salmon Cascades, it was the furthest Sam allowed them to go alone. Even though Sam was more than sure Renata could hold her ground, he also knew Victoria was still on the lose and she would not hesitate to kill her.

After she had packed, Renata went to meet Leah at her house. Originally, Renata had wanted to run to the Salmon Cascades, but then realised Leah was not really familiar with her super human abilities yet so they took Paul's truck all the way to Bear Creek Motel, where they stayed the night in. They woke up early, at about four in the morning, Leah was not happy about it.

"What's the point? It's like a thirty minute drive from here" Leah said as she put the pillow over her head.

"We are not driving, Leah, we're walking" Renata said as she put her shorts on.

"You are crazy! It's far! We're gonna take all day to get there!" Leah sat up and complained.

"It's only a three hour walk, give or take, the point of this trip is for you to get in touch with your spiritual side, the part of you that is connected to the land"

"Okay, then why don't we just do it in La Push?" Leah said as she stood up from the bed and undressed while she walked to the bathroom, to get a shower, leaving a trail of clothes.

"Firstly, because being away from everything will help you concentrate only in what we're doing. And second, because of privacy. I don't want anyone barging in on us" Renata said as she picked up Leah's clothes from the floor and put it back in her bag.

After Leah took her shower, she blow dried her hair and pulled it up in a ponytail, then she started dressing in what was, in Renata's opinion, not appropriate when your powers can warm you up.

"Te vas a asar en esa cosa" Renata told her and chucked.

"It's cold!" Leah complained as she brushed her long hair.

"You can regulate your own body temperature" Renata sang.

"How do I do that?" Leah huffed.

"The most important aspect is to breathe, control your breathing. Feel the warmth start at your center and then spread into your chest, your stomach, your limbs and face and finally the tip of your toes. You have to feel it and visualize it, like a kind of light that lives inside you..." Renata tried to explain as best as she could. Leah nodded and closed her eyes. Renata waited expectantly for a couple minutes, and when Leah opened her eyes, they were shining silver.

"Wow, you're right, I'm gonna melt inside these" Leah laughed and took off her jacket, instead, she put on a pair of shorts and a spaghetti strap top.
