"The first thing you need to do is calm down" Renata told Leah calmly, "or it won't go away. Emotions can trigger it, so please, try to calm down. Take deep breaths" Renata waited until Leah's breath normalized, "now look at me, and picture yourself in your mind, nothing more, just you" Renata told her, it was a way to get her to her state without powers until she could control it at will.

Renata looked at Leah once more, her eyes flickered before going back to it's normal dark brown, almost black color. Leah was older than Renata but at that moment, she looked fragile and small. There was a knock on the door, Renata knew if was Harry, she could hear his heart, beating unsteadily. Renata helped Leah get up and told her to go downstairs, have breakfast and hot cocoa. Leah walked with shaky steps to the kitchen with the help of her father, while Renata told Sue and Seth they could come in. Seth seemed really worried about his sister and it really pained Renata to not be able to tell him what was happening. She couldn't say anything without the Council's permission, the only way she could tell anyone what was happening was if they phased, or in this case, now that Leah was awakening.

"Can I skip school?" Seth asked his mother.

"And why would you do that, young man?" Sue asked him, hitting him in the head lightly.

"Well, since I assumed Leah was sick and it seems Renata was pretty worried, it could be contagious and I could be sick too... better be safe that sorry, right?" Seth said with a toothy grin.

"Nice try kid, but no, you still have to go unless you are burning in fever" Harry told him and laughed, "now to get your stuff for school, it's almost time" Seth groaned and went to get his backpack.

Then Seth had to go to school, taking four quesadillas with him and coffee in a thermos.

"If you are making me leave, I'll take hostage these amazing quesadillas for the day" Seth said dramatically as he put them in a Tupperware. Renata laughed at him, stuffing four quesadillas inside while having one half inside his mouth, "bye mom, bye dad, bye Leah, bye Renata" he called as he walked out the door still with the quesadilla in his mouth.

"Be good!" Sue called after him.

After he left, Renata let go off a breath she had been holding.

"Can anyone tell me what is happening?" Leah asked them.

"Leah, listen to me, there is nothing wrong with you" Renata told her seriously, it was something she had to understand in order to accept it.

"Nothing wrong with me?" Leah yelled, "last time I checked, people's eyes don't start to glow and things don't start to float around! Also, people don't hear voices in their heads!" Leah yelled, standing up, Renata heard the floor start to crack.

If Leah didn't stop, the house would be destroyed. Renata activated her powers and stood up, their clashing powers made wind start to flow strongly inside the kitchen. Two shamans, two devastating forces, which was exactly the reason why there must be only one shaman in a tribe. Thunder was heard outside, their clashing powers were messing with the surroundings' energy, unbalancing it. Both their eyes were shining amber, Renata tried to link her mind with Leah but she resisted, rain had started pouring outside, and thunder came soon. They were fighting for the uper hand on the energy they could control. Renata knew she was not displaying her full power, but if she did, she could destroy the house and hurt Leah. From both girls erupted a wave of energy, from Leah, it had a wolf's translucent image, and a howling was heard, while from Renata erupted a translucent jaguar that roared back. Renata was getting angry and she felt Leah getting angry too, so she would have to use her shaman voice, although she wasn't sure it would work on Leah.

"Leah! Stand down!" Renata said firmly, she felt Leah trying to resist, "Now, Leah! Stop!" Renata pushed harder this time, but not enough for Leah to just obey blindly.

The wolf slowly vanished and the wind started to diminish, it was still raining but not as hard as it had before. Leah took a deep breath and calmed down, she sat down and continued to drink her now cold hot cocoa. Renata calmed down too, feeling the balance in energy return, the thunder had stopped. Harry and Sue returned to the kitchen, neither of the girls noticed when they left. They were astonished of the amount of power they had just seen, they would have never thought of the amount of power they really had, let alone the two of them together.

"Is everything okay?" Sue asked them and they both nodded.

"Leah, darling, we can help you understand what is happening to you, but only if you let us" Harry told his daughter, who nodded slowly.

"What is happening to me, Renata?" Leah asked quietly.

"There are some cultures, Leah, like yours and mine, that are more spiritually connected to their ancestors, the gods and the magic...

The Quileute and the Itzá tribes, like many others in the world, have a spiritual connection to their land and their past, honoring traditions, honoring life itself. The bloodlines of our tribes carry a kind of magic, a gene, if you must, that links us to the first of our people. The Quileute's are said to be descendants from wolves, and the Itzá's from Balam. In times of trouble for our people, that gene activates in a way, it causes a chain reaction that causes us to go back to these original forms. However, that is not the point right now, the point is that since ancient times, tribes have had shamans or high priests to have said to have powers and be able to communicate with the gods and spirits. These shamans serve as a bridge between the spiritual and the physical worlds, they are protectors of the people, and that's what you and I are, Leah. We have power, more than you could imagine, but we also have a huge responsibility to our people. I can teach you to control your powers, to become stronger so you are able to protect yourself, your family and the whole tribe from whatever there is that could hurt them" Renata finished explaining and Leah took a couple moments to absorb it all in until she slowly nodded.

"What do I need to do?" Leah asked confidently, she would be willing to do it for her family.

"First, we start with the senses"
