The Lake was calm and still. Its large oct-tentacled occupant gliding just below the surface of the water. The sky was a bright, beautiful maya blue, without a single cloud to block the radiating sun. Accompanied by the cool gentle breeze of May, the day was absolutely perfect. Her face was glowing from the sun's influence, her small freckles more noticeable than usual, but she didn't mind, she never did. Unlike most people she loved her abnormalities, and all her imperfections and flaws. He helped her through that.

Turning her head, gazing behind her, he sat, pleasantly shaded by a large oak tree, its leaves seemingly copying her radiance. A red leather bound book, with its browning parchment, was placed face open in his lap. Feeling her soft stare, he looked up through his curly and bushy light brown hair, his head tilted slightly and a playful smile on his lips. His light blue, green mixed eyes meet hers, she couldn't help but smile. He looked almost as peaceful as she did, his posture slouched slightly, leaning back against the tree with his legs crossed at the ankles. Then again he always looked peaceful, that or he looked extremely awkward.

Giggling at her thought, she removed her gaze from him and focused once again on the beautiful view ahead of her, before her mind was captured by the quiet squeaking on her outstretched thighs. Looking down, the small creature was laying flat, its black fur ruffled slightly, as it too enjoyed basking in the sun's rays. Its caramel eyes were shut as it nuzzled her leg lovingly with its platypus like bill. Removing one of her hands that had been outstretched behind her, she gently stroked the creatures back, scratching ever so slightly.

A calm settled over the area once more as she basked in the sun, caressing the niffler soothingly. As the girl closed her ever curious and bright eyes, she heard faint movement behind her and the muffled sounds of approaching footsteps in the grass. Without looking, she heard the boy place his book on the ground softly, then crouch down enough so he was lower to the ground before falling back, landing on the ground nearly soundlessly. She felt his hand gently slide over hers, intertwining their fingers, applying a small amount of pressure as he leaned back. Opening her eyes, she gazed at the boy beside her, grinning happily. There was no one she would rather be with and nowhere she would rather be.
