Approaching the edgeline between the forest and the clearing around the Cullens house, I intake the fresh woody pine scent surrounding Forks. Walking at a human pace, I admire the trees, their large multi-colored green leafy canopies, the occasional yellow and brown catching my gaze. The dense woodland encases the low dwelling fog, the cloudy air only truly visible during the late hours of the day. Pausing, I stand in front of a wall of large, jagged rocks protruding from the earth's terrain. Rapidly climbing it, I crouch down, examining the area around me.

"This area isn't the safest to be in." A voice sounds out, adorned with a heavy southern accent.

"Don't worry. I heard about Vladimir and Stefan teasing your poor shapeshifting friends." I reply, a smile on my face throughout my sentence. I hear a light chuckle as a pair of legs stroll into my peripheral vision. Swiftly, I switch my position to instead sit on the 'cliffs' edge, dangling my feet over the side. Shifting around, I pull off my F/C track jacket, rolling it into a ball and placing it beside me, revealing my S/F/C tank top. After a few moments, I feel him sit beside me, his eyes tracing over my neck, shoulder and down to my arms. Glancing over into his golden hues, I find an almost curious but hard stare.

"Battle scars." I nod to the bite marks littering my almost perfect, cold, porcelain skin. A small knowing smile reaches his face as he pulls up the sleeves of his own jacket. My eyes take in the bite marks, big and small, messy or clean, that cover his forearms.

"What position?" I ask.

"Confederate Major in the Civil War." I nod. "You?" He asks knowingly.

"General, mainly behind the lines, battle strategy was my known reputation."

"And how'd you manage that?"

"Binders, regular haircuts, vocal lessons." He chuckles.

"Not that part soldier." I glance surprised at him.

"Oh, I prevented an ineffective attack that would have cost hundreds of lives. Convinced the general at the time to take a more effective route and attack strategy." He hums in acknowledgement.

"I haven't met many who've served in an army, let alone a General." I hear the slight teasing tone underlining his words, making me laugh lightly.

"One of a kind, Major." I state proudly, saluting to him playfully. Grabbing my jacket and jumping off the rock, gracefully landing on the leafy ground below I turn to face him still on the hill. "Maybe once this is all done, you and your mate could accompany me on a little expedition through the past?" He smiled.

"I believe that sounds like a plan."
