Looking ahead of me, I make my way through the town's winding roads and paths, completing my patrol. Children run across my path, never bumping into me, vendors call out their wares while villagers bargain prices'. Everything is calm and serene, just as it should be. As it should have been. A loud explosion catches everyone off guard, myself included. My eyes dart around wildly as screams echo around me and people bolt in different directions, panicking. Children are scooped into parents arms, pets are shooed out of the way, and I start sprinting, as fast as my aching legs can carry me. Rounding the corner of a farmers house, I see my lord, dead on the ground, surrounded by four...four, guards? Covered in black armor with red accents, all carrying demonic looking swords. The girl has long silvery hair and purple eyes, one of the males has black hair and light blue eyes while the other has dark brown hair and maroon eyes, but the last stands turned away and I could recognize that stance anywhere.

"REVEE!" I yell, capturing their attention as I draw my sword from its dark leather sheath. He turns, his grey hair slightly matted from blood, his eyes turned from orange, to a bright red, small veins of a darker red coming down from his eyes. Whatever he had done, what he had become, he wasn't human anymore. He draws his own sword without much hesitation, only stopping from springing an attack as his companion, possibly the leader, speaks lowly. Turning his head back to me from the other man, he lunges forward, over the body of our dead lord and at me. I raise my sword to parry his attack, but it never comes. He disappears from my vision completely, only to appear behind me, raise his hilt and knock me unconscious. My last few moments of sight are to watch as they walk away from their destruction, fires burning on the nearby homes and trees.

"Y/N? Y/N!" A shove meets my shoulder, knocking me out of my thoughts. I grasp my sword and pull it towards the person, pointing it to their throat.

"Whoa! Hey, it's me Y/N! It's Laurance!" I take a moment to ground myself, heaving in calming breaths, my eyes taking in my surroundings. Bright green trees with hefty trunks, vendors with colorful banners, happy families chasing after each other, and-

"Oh, sorry..." I drop my arm to my side, letting the blade tip graze the ground slightly, then lifting it straight up, I replace it into its holder.

"It's alright, no harm done. Are..." He hesitates, studying my face. "Are you alright though?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." He nods, not fully convinced. We continue to walk in silence for several minutes, passing the large and full crop fields, heading towards the ocean dock. "Laurance, can I ask you something?" He stops, turning around to face me.

"Yeah?" I bite my lip, contemplating if it was even worth asking. "Nevermind, it's stupid."

"Hey," He grabs my shoulder as I try to walk away. "Try me." I sigh.

"When-...When I lost my lord, before I was knocked out...I remember seeing, and trying to attack, a small group of people." I gauge his face, looking for any sign to stop, and not seeing one I continue. "There were four of them, one I recognized, but they all were wearing this strange armor."

"What kind of armor?"

"It was black, darker than obsidian, with these bright red accents. I don't know, it just seemed really weird... Again, I might've just been seeing things-....Laurance? Are-are you okay?" His face is set in semi shock and anger.

"What did they look like?"

"What do you mean?"

"The three you didn't recognize."

"I-...the girl had light silvery hair and bright purple eyes, um, while one of the males had black hair and light blue eyes, but the other had, I think brown hair and maroon eyes. Why?"

"I think I may know who you're talking about Y/N, or at least I know someone who will." Grabbing my arm, he pulls me back onto the path, heading straight for Lord Aphmau's house.
