Stepping onto the dark oak dock, followed closely by Malachi, who has a steadying hand on my lower back, I regain my footing, having to adjust from the regular swaying of the trade ship. Logan laughs from a few feet behind me, watching as I mis-step and stumble, being caught by Levin.

"Whoa, steady there." I grab onto his arms tightly, allowing him to pull me to my feet. Malachi chuckles as well, coming to stand behind me.

"Everything go alright?" Levin asks his brother, continuing to hold me.

"Yeah, we were able-able to..." His voice trails off, his eyes darting behind the both of us.

"Malachi?" He takes off, running to a dark haired woman wearing purple and black clothing, pulling each other into a tight embrace.

"Levin what's-?"
"I'll explain everything later, I promise." He quickly cuts me off, releasing his hold on me, exchanging it to place a hand around my lower back, resting it on my hip. I nod, watching as Malachi pulls back from the tight embrace, quickly ushering her towards the main part of the village.

...

Stepping up the semi destroyed path, hand in hand with Levin, we make our way towards his mother's house, his childhood home. As we reach the even ground, I smile at the dark blue trees, their purple leaves gently drifting around us peacefully. He pulls me towards the double doors, opening them wide, and propping them open with large rocks.

"Would you mind staying down here for a moment?" He asks, explaining himself when I raise an eyebrow, "Malachi and I need to discuss something from the trade in private." Myself nodding, he walks forwards, placing a kiss to my temple, and smiling warmly, he makes his way up the stairs. Walking further into the room, I grab the small broom resting in the corner of the floor, sweeping any dust, leaves or other debris into a small pile, then towards the open doorway and out. The several minutes it takes me to clean up a bit, Levin pops downstairs.

"You can come up now, love." I place the broom back into its original position, then following him upstairs, we head into his and Malachi's childhood bedroom. The furniture throughout the house has been taken out, either repurposed in the village, or stolen by bandits. Malachi stands just in front of one of the windows facing towards the ocean. He turns towards us as Levin moves to the cornered off part of the room, spacing out slightly.

"So, now that she's back...what will happen with the title of Lord?" I question Malachi, having had Levin explain their mothers sudden departure when they were younger, and her sudden reappearance. He looks at me to answer, but is cut off by Levin.

"If she wishes to retake the position, I'll be happy to let her." I nod, knowing how much they both look up to their mom. A feminine voice can be heard entering the house, wandering around the main floor, then growing silent as she presumably travels downstairs.

"I'll be in the other room for now." I leave before either can argue, exiting the room and entering the one directly across from it, sitting on one of the windowsills. Her voice moves to our level, at first heading towards me, but goes the other way when Malachi calls out for her. I listen to their conversation half-hazardly, hearing different keywords like Yggdrasil, Lord, and Phoenix drop, as well as small segments of dialogue. Eventually, it turns quiet. Then, when the voices pick up again, they steadily move closer.

"Mom, there's someone we both want you to meet." His voice sounds from the doorway, three pairs of footsteps entering the room. I turn, seeing both boys flanking either side of their adoptive mother.

"Mom, this is Y/N L/N." I stand, coming to stand just in front of her.

"It's truly wonderful to meet you." I say, smiling warmly. She smiles back, slightly unsure of why they both wanted her to meet me. Noticing this, Levin makes his way towards me, coming to stand just beside.

"As you can tell, a lot of things have changed, and well, Y/N's my fiance." Her eyes go wide with shock, morphing into happiness.

"Oh, Levin!" She rushes forwards, pulling me into a tight embrace, catching me off guard slightly, making me hesitate a moment before returning the hug. Pulling back, she apologizes.

"S-sorry, I just got excited-"
"It's alright, really."

"How long have you two known each other?"

"Well, I came to the village with a band of travelling merchants a few years ago, and I stayed because, I met Levin."

"Hey, what about me!" I laugh along with Levin and their mother, Aphmau.

"Yes, and because of you too Malachi. Anyway, we started courting soon after, but we've only been engaged for a few months."

"Oh, that's wonderful!" She beams at me, small tears gathering in her eyes. "Have you told Laurance yet? I'm sure he would be so ecstatic to hear it."

"That was my plan."

"Then I won't keep you two any longer, go!" She playfully shoos us out the door, laughing lightly. Levin stops and turns, pulling her into a tight embrace, whispering something to her, which she responds with a nod, pulling away to caress his cheek lovingly. Coming to my side, he offers me his elbow.

"Shall we?" I hook my arm with his.

"We shall."
