The sky was a bright blue, almost like a painting, where fluffy clouds dotted ever so often. The sun beat down on us as we stood near the edge of the clearing surrounding the Cullen household. A breeze occasionally ruffled my hair slightly from its natural resting place. It was a pleasant feeling but not something that could affect my temperature much, one of the perks of being a shifter I guess. Standing a few feet away from me were Leah, Seth and our Alpha Jacob. Jacob wore a light gray shirt, black khakis, and black shoes, while Seth wore a sleeveless jacket, displaying his tattoo prominently, a pair of camo khakis, and also black shoes. Leah wore a white shirt, layered with a dull light purple jacket, mid thigh jean shorts and black boots. I adorned a similar outfit. Today felt like we didn't have to be on edge, causing us to wear things we didn't normally when we were in Sam's pack. None of us said a word as Jacob continued to survey just past the tree line for any moment. It wasn't usually this quiet, but we were all growing weary of the constant vigilance, especially since it was spread out over only four people.

The sound of small crunches made by leafs and small sticks snapping alerted us of one of the Cullens approaching, hearing no heartbeat gave it away. Turning towards the person, I took the familiar brown waves and dark, nearly black eyes, accompanied by a small but sweet and motherly smile. Esme approached us carrying two wrapped sandwiches in each hand. Turning to face her, I reciprocated her smile, always having liked the woman for her kindness. As she offered one of the stacks of sandwiches to me, Seth came around from behind me, gladly taking them, and passing one to me. Turning to look at Jacob, I saw his gaze was on Leah as she stared at the women, unmoving. Esme gently held the food out to Leah, but she wouldn't take it, instead opting to sharply turn away, redirecting her eyes back to the forest. I watched as Esme's smile faltered slightly, saddening me slightly. Sighing, Jacob stepped forward and accepted the sandwiches from her hand.

"Thanks." She nodded back before making her way into the house. I looked back to Leah's turned away figure, sighing before sitting next to Seth on the damp forest floor and unwrapping my sandwich. Some days she can be so stubborn.

"Y'know she's just trying to help Leah." I voice out, watching her figure, but she stays silent. Rolling my eyes, I bite into the white bread, and it's fresh fillings, my constant hunger being settled for now. At least some of us are trying.
