The water was chilling as it gently swayed up and down against her bare shins, the pebbles underneath her feet smooth and gentle. The girl was wading calmly in a shallow end of the black lake, her socks, shoes, robes and vest discarded earlier on the bank. The cuffs of her collared shirt were rolled to her elbows, freeing her hands and arms to gently hold the small creature to her chest, its ruffled black fur shining against the beating sun. The girl continued to stare out at the lake, smiling softly, its vastness seemingly endless. A slight breeze blew strands of her soft hair from its resting place over her shoulders around her head and into her face, making her frown slightly as she couldn't move them. But before she could start fussing over her problem, it was solved.
A calm, pale hand gently came into her view, hooking its slender fingers around the strands and gently tucking them behind her ear. The hand felt cold but pleasant as it brushed against her ear, taking great care to not pull her hair. Glancing over her shoulder, her bright and loving eyes locked gazes with his light gray ones. They were soft, and full of compassion for her. As he slowly retracted his hand, she took notice of the missing attributes to his uniform, mirroring herself. Taking a step forwards, he gently wrapped his arms around her torso, resting them on her hips as he gently squeezed her, then pulling her towards him he rested his chin on her shoulder. Breathing in the ever calm.
