Walking towards the edge of the woodland mansions roof, I watch as Cleo, Bdubs and Scar run back towards their tower, clutching bags of assorted ores. I chuckle, placing a hand on my hip, watching them file through their front door as the Bad Boys chase them. The three come to a halt when they realize they're too late, Jimmy kicking a stone, annoyed, with the other two laughing at him, grabbing his leather jacket to drag him into the mansion. Stepping forward, I plop myself onto the edge, dangling my legs over the edge, swinging my feet to the beat in my head. Reaching into my pocket, I pull out my clock, my heart dropping slightly when I see the amount of time left, accompanied by a faint yellow glow.
"Oi Y/N! Why didn't you help us out?"
"You three were handling yourselves just fine out there!" I tease. Grumbling comes up behind me, abruptly being stopped by harsh whispering. I lean backwards onto my palms, tilting my head back to look at them, furrowing my eyebrows and squinting my eyes.
"What?"
"Y'know something Y/N? You've talked a big game about being all kinds of powerful and all that, plus you say you're aligned with almost everyone." Grian starts.
"Yeah, and?" I ask, getting to my feet, keeping my distance as they all draw their swords."I think it's about time the Bad Boys get a bit more respect around here, don't you think?" Joel asks, raising his sword's edge to me. I raise my eyebrow, grabbing the hilt of my own sword, unsheathing it an inch, a light purple glow emitting from the small bit shown.
"That right?" I glance between the three of their faces, seeing a burning determination, making me smirk. Faking a lunge towards them, watching them all flinch backwards, I shove my sword back into its casing, turning and running straight to the edge, jumping off and into the water below.
"NO!"
"DANG IT Y/N!" The world goes quiet as I plunge into the small but deep pond, tilting my body upwards to re-surface. Breaking through the water I take a deep breath, pushing back any stray hairs from my face. Pushing myself through the water, towards the shore, I find solid grounding, slipping slightly on the shifting sand. A slightly tanned hand outstretches in front of me, a gold watch with a leather strap resting around his wrist. Looking up, I see Scar, dressed in his teal, orange and yellow collared shirt, his cuffs rolled up to his biceps, and the majority of the top buttons undone, showcasing his toned chest. Resting on his nose are a pair of yellow tinted glass glasses, sheltering his olive green eyes from the bright world, putting a tint on the large and small scars littering his face, a large smile plastered across his lips.
"Need a hand?"
"Yeah, thanks!" I clasp my hand in his tightly, allowing him to pull me up onto the shore and to my feet.
"Hey, thanks for not, y'know, helping them chase us down."
"Hey! I'm not that mean!" He chuckles and I smile, letting him continue to hold my hand as we walk towards the Clockers tower. He opens the door, gesturing for me to go first, and I take it, entering to find Bdubs excitedly setting plates on the large oak dining table, with one chair one each side.
"Hey Dubs!" He whips around, spotting me.
"Awe come on Scar! You should've told me you were going to invite your girlfriend to dinner tonight!" I blush heavily.
"I-, it-, this wasn't-" He stutters, making me cut him off.
"Oh, I'm not staying, I'm not going to impose-"
"Oh, hush you." Cleo says, coming up a ladder from the ground. "Of course you're staying!"
"No, I-I really shouldn't-" Two hands place themselves on my shoulders, rubbing their thumbs into the blades of my shoulders.
"Yeah, of course she's staying!" Scar chimes in from behind me.
"Scar..."
"Please?" Glancing back, he gives me puppy eyes, causing me to cave in.
"Fine..." Bdubs groans dramatically, earning a light smack from Cleo, while Scar presses a kiss to my cheek, then walking around me, he goes to find another chair.
"Just don't be surprised when Scott and Martyn freak out cause I'm not back yet!" I smile, watching the family dynamic playout in front of me, Cleo brushing off my warning. As Bdubs goes to grab another plate and set of utensils, Scar places a chair beside his own, rounding the table to then place a towel on my shoulders. I thank him before Cleo ushers me further into the house, and into the kitchen, accepting my help with cooking the rest of dinner once I've dried off. Eventually we begin bustling around, preparing steaks, baked potatoes, and a cake for dessert, myself catching Scar staring at me fondly every so often through the doorway, making me blush, Bdubs eventually closing the door, mumbling about me turning his brother into a 'lovesick fool'. As we finished decorating the cake, the front door opened and closed, causing Cleo to sigh heavily.
"What's wrong?"
"DAD!" I hear Bdubs yell from the main room.
"Here," she grabs the dish of white icing from my hands, "Go out there and, I'll be out in a minute or two." I nod, wiping my hands on my apron, then taking it off to hang it on the wall, I make my way to the door, taking a deep breath before walking out. Pushing the dark oak door open, I stroll into the large main area, finding Etho at the opposite end of the table, with Bdubs in the chair to his left, and Scar in the chair on his right to the closer end of the table to me. Ethos' head turns from his youngest son to me, eyes widening somewhat in surprise, while Scar smiles at me widely, getting up from his seat, gesturing from me to sit with him. I hesitate a moment, then walking over, I approach the chair beside him, allowing it to be pulled out as I sit and then pushed back in, tucking me under the table.
"Etho, you probably have already met Y/N, vise versa." He smiles between the two of us.
"Yes, I believe we've met once or twice, living close by." I nod.
"It's nice to officially meet you Etho." I say politely, slightly nervous. Scar places a hand on my thigh, caressing it comfortingly.
"Hey, what'd you tell the Bad Boys earlier?"
"Hmm?" I furrow my eyebrows, looking at Bdubs. "What're you talking about?"
"Y'know, after they stopped chasing us, and went back to their mansion."
"Oh...it was nothing really."
"Nothing!?" Scar voices out surprised. "You dove off the roof into a small body of water, after they all pulled swords on you!" I blush, semi embarrassed.
"I-, well....it was just a small altercation. Nothing to be worried about." I assure them."Why'd they try to attack you?" Etho asks.
"They thought by killing me, they'd get more respect because I have 'so many' allies." I make finger quotations as I say 'so many'. "Besides, they flinched pretty bad when I pretended to attack them." This causes Etho to chuckle, making Bdubs smile brightly. Scar squeezes my thigh, turning his hand over to show his palm, asking for my own hand, and I comply, smiling contently into his eyes. I see Etho watching our small interaction, his mask lifted upwards by a probable smile.
"Well dinners ready," Cleo pops out through the door, "Bdubs, come help me get everything out." He nods, getting up and joining her.
"I'll go help as well." Scar says aloud, getting to his feet and letting go of my hand.
"So...how-how exactly did you two meet?" I groan inwardly. This should be fun.
