The bright sun illuminates the world around me, showcasing the dominating trees with their vast canopies dotted throughout the village and along the borders. A large shadow looms over my figure as I approach the cobblestone guard station, it being seemingly empty. Approaching the iron door, I press the stone button to my right, triggering the mechanisms that then swings the door open inwards. Stepping into the large room, I round the corner of a small barrier wall separating the cells and the entrance, and passing the empty cubicles, I proceed towards the wood ladder secured tightly to the wall, grasping it tightly then hoisting myself upwards, through the small opening to the second floor. Once my feet are almost level with the new landing on hop onto solid ground, turning sharply to come face to face with three small rooms, all separated by wooden walls, and wooden doors. Sighing heavily, I advance towards the only closed entrance, rapping on the wood sharply.

"Garroth it's me." Silence. "Look, I don't know what's going on but I don't believe that you're sick alright!" Silence again. "Just...open the door and talk to me..." Nothing. It feels as though I'm talking, pleading even, with myself. No shuffling, no talking, I can't even hear his breathing.

"You can talk to me, Garroth! You know me, and I can understand what's happening!" My words are followed by a sharp scoff from within the room.

"You don't understand how this feels." He speaks quietly, his usual calm poorly masking the anger hidden beneath his tone.

"Then...then tell me. But you can't know that for sure unless you talk to me." I hear sudden movement from within before the door is ripped open, revealing his tired face, and angry eyes. A very out of character thing for him revealing the severity of the situation.

"You. Don't. Know."

"We both know I've been through enough stuff that I've got only a small amount of things I haven't gone through Ro'Meave." I speak lowly, matching his aggression. He scoffs again.

"Yeah, you and your hard life. Always having people wanting to do everything for you. Never needing to lift a finger." It was my turn to scoff.

"That's rich coming from you, you're highness." He grabs my shoulders, swings me around and shoves me into the wall, an abrupt gasp leaving my lips.

"You don't know because you never did. You're not capable of love L/N." I feel myself go rigged, tears burning in the corners of my eyes. I watch as the anger and resentment on his face slowly dissipates, replaced with shock and remorse.

"Y/N I-" I shove him off, my eyes glued to the floor, tears falling freely down my cheeks.

"You know damn well...what my life, my choices...what it does to me." I state, not angry, not sad, just hurt. Not daring to let him say another word, I rush towards and down the ladder, sharply landing on the first floor.

"Hey Y/N! Did you get Garroth-" Laurance's sentence is cut short as I shove past him, and out the guard station, not looking back once as the tears stream down my reddened face.

Garroth POV

I feel the anger withdraw from my body, leaving behind the wreckage of my unintended words. I see the tears gathering in her eyes before she looks down.

"Y/N I-" She grasps me harshly and shoves me square in the chest.

"You know damn well...what my life, my choices...what it does to me." I gulp, regret taking over completely. Before I can think of something to say, something to do, she marches her way over to the ladder, descending it hastily.

"Irene's sake..." I mutter, pressing the heels of my hands into my eyes, the pressure sure to make me see black dots in my vision when I pull them away.

"Hey Y/N! Did you get Garroth-'' I hear Laurances slightly muffled sentence cut short and the slam of an iron door. I groaned loudly, leaning against the wall where she had previously been, and allowed myself to slide depressingly to the floor in a pile. The sound of creaking wood, and the heavy sound of shoes hitting solid ground after being seemingly weightless snap me back into somewhat reality. Releasing the pressure on my eyes, I stare dejectedly ahead of me.

"Hey man.." He starts, almost cautiously. For the moment, I decide to put away my resentment of Laurance and what he did, focusing on the more pressing issue at hand. "You alright? No one's heard from you." I grimace.

"Yeah...I know."

"Aphmaus been pretty worried...I guess that's why she asked Y/N if she could see if you were alright." I groaned into my hand again, hunching over. Wordlessly, he walked over to the wall, and slid down to sit beside me.

"What exactly happened up here?"

"I screwed up real badly."

"How?"

"I-" I didn't know how to explain the situation properly to Laurance without discussing something that very few people knew about Y/N. I took a deep breath, letting it sit for a moment before exhaling. "You've got to swear to me that what I'm about to tell you, never gets spread alright?"

"Oh, okay, maybe this isn't something I should be hearing, Garroth."

"Just swear it." I see him physically hesitate in my peripheral vision, before nodding.

"Yeah...I swear it, on my life." I nod, squeezing my eyes shut.

"Y/N's a....shadow knight." Silence.

"What..?"

"I said-"

"No, trust me I heard you the first time...but that-, it-...what?" I chuckle as he desperately attempts to put the pieces together. "How? When? Why?" He spits out, clearly unable to form coherent sentences.

"She's like you." I state calmly, looking completely over at him, meeting his intense and curious gaze. "She died in the nether, and went through the whole changing thing. She's able to transform into a larger version of herself that's more powerful, with all the special armor and weapons, just like you. But also just like you, she never killed the person most important to her, and she kept her humanity....for the most part." Laurance stays silent as he processes my words, the gears almost visibly turning in his head.

"How...How did she die?"

"That's something you'll have to ask her yourself." He nods in agreement.

"What did you say to her?" I gulp, the feeling of anger and remorse for my actions bubbling up in my throat.

"I told her that she didn't know what I was going through, or that she never would...because she was incapable of love..." I catch him letting out a deep sigh.

"Oh man...that explains it." I nod solemnly. "What're you gonna do now?" He asks, slowly getting to his feet. I shrug dejectedly.

"Honestly. I don't think there's anything I can do at this point. The damage is done. I betrayed her trust. She probably won't even be able to stand looking at me, let alone standing in proximity." I state. "But...you could probably do something." I suggest cautiously.

"I really doubt she would listen to me if she won't listen...to...you?" His statement turns into a question as I turn my gaze to him with a knowing face. Laurance takes a moment to think, the gears once again turning in his head before it clicks.

"Oh..!"
