Isaiah POV
I sat on the sofa with Rose curled up at my side. She's two days past the due date and is very much ready for our bub to make an appearance. Rose is antsy and paranoid which I don't blame her for. She's in pain, contractions is the worst part because her and her wolf knows that when there's contractions is means the baby is close to coming.
But there's been nothing. She lost her mucus plug the other day and has been on her toes ever since. Her dad is always messaging me for updates just as eager to meet his grandchild as Rose is for her child. Don't get my wrong, I'm excited, but I'm fucking scared. I haven't slept in three days nervous for the time she goes in to labour.
The midwife has reassured us that everything is fine with the baby. The head is down, it's in a good position however they're getting a bit too snug in there. Rose is much bigger so no only does she have contractions but back pain as well. But she's getting through this amazingly.
A frown takes over Rose's face as her hand shoots to her swollen belly. Instinctively my hand grabs her other so she has something to hold on to. However it's more so for my sanity so I can feel how she's feeling. Even though we're not mates I can still feel her, it's so strange but I'm glad I get to still feel her on some level.
"Are you okay?" I ask once the contraction has passed. I know she's not but it's better than being silent and not engaging with her at all.
Shaking her head, Rose takes deep breaths. Her hand not letting up on mine telling me the pain hadn't stopped like I thought it had. "Tell me what you need."
"I need you to get this baby out of me. Get it out." Rose looked at me. Tears streaming down her cheeks. "Get it out, Isaiah." She screams. I pull her to my chest with one arm while letting her squeeze my hand still. My mum and dad looking at me from the other sofa with worry.
"No, let go of me." She stands up and starts pacing. Her hands on her lower back as she walks around the living room.
"Do you want me to run you a warm bath? See if it helps with the pain again." I ask needing to help her in any way I can. I feel so fucking useless.
"Does it look like I need a fucking bath?" She glares at me. All I can do is stare back. I thought I was prepared for this, but my sunshine is in so much pain and has been for the last couple of days. She's been irritable and all she wants is our baby in our arms.
"I know it's easier said than done, sweetheart, but try and relax. If there is literally anything we can do just say the word and we'll do it." My mum tells her softly.
"I want him out, Judith. Please get him out." Rose sobs. I stand and go to her side. She leans her forehead on my chest letting me hold her hands while she squeezes. "Please, I just want him out."
"I know baby. He'll be here soon. He just needs a little bit longer." I whisper trying to comfort her. And yes, Rose is sure we're having a baby boy. We decided we didn't want to know and have a surprise to keep us on our toes and have some good news since we're still not over the fact we're not mates.
"Want me to get the midwife?"
"No." Rose sniffles while she keeps leaning on me. My mum and dad sit on the edge of the sofa in anticipation. We've known this has been coming for a week now, we just didn't realise that she'd be over due.
I'm not sure how long as stood here for, but it's been a while. The sun is setting creating a soft orange glow in the room. My parents still haven't moved but Elodie has now joined us. No one speaks, I can just about hear the breaths of my family that's how silent we're all being.
Every so often I kiss Rose's head, more so when she squeezes my hand as I know it's the contractions.
"I'm sorry I snapped at you." Rose whispers.
"Don't be. It's okay. You're in pain and I can't imagine what you're feeling right now. Don't be sorry for anything, sunshine." I reassure her.
Silence once again falls upon us and soon enough so does darkness. My mum puts on a lamp so there's a soft glow but nothing too much to set Rose off. My mum of all people know what she's feeling so definitely doesn't want to upset Rose.
"I need to use the bathroom." Rose whispers.
"Need any help?" I ask and she nods. Slowly, I help her walk to the bathroom where she sits and does what she needs to do. As she sits though, it's almost as if it rushes out of her. Now I've been in the bathroom enough times with Rose to know that isn't what it sounds like when she uses the toilet.
Tear filled eyes find mine and we both know it's time. "He's coming, sunshine. Are you ready?"
Rose puts her hand on her belly shaking her head. "He can't come. He'll be safer in there. There are so many bad people, they'll try and hurt him. I don't want anyone to hurt him."
I kneel in front of her and hold her cheeks in my hands. "Nothing will ever happen to any of you. Not while I'm here, not with me protecting you both. No one will come close to this house because I snap their neck. Not a single person with walk through that front door without our say so. And I know you'll protect him with everything you've got, even more than me. I know it's scary, but I'm right here with you and I'm not going anywhere. Tell me what you need and I'll do anything."
"I need you to hold me. I don't want to do this on my own."
"I can do that baby." I give her a soft smile and help her from the toilet. Once Rose is situated on the bed, I get in behind her and hold her against my chest. Her legs open while she wears nothing but my T-shirt holding my hands tightly, her head nestled on my shoulder with her nose in the crook of my neck.
A soft knock on the door echoes the room letting me know of someone's presence. Once I tell them to come in, Rose's midwife comes in with a soft smile on her face.
"Hello. Out of the obvious, how are you feeling, Rose?" She asks.
"Scared: so fucking scared. I want him out but now that it's actually happening I want him where he's close and safe."
"You have an amazing support system, Rose. I have no doubt he'll be just as safe out here than he is in there." She says.
"I know." Rose whispers and leans her head back against me.
"Our baby will be the safest person on this planet. I'll make sure of that." I reassure Rose.

Werewolf"We're not ready to leave. Not yet." I shake my head and take a step back. I turn around only to see my mum and Elodie stood there making me stop once again. "Put her down, baby. Elodie will take her home and make sure she's safe." My mum reassures...
