My control

My control. It is slipping from my hand.

Upon viewing her photos, my heart is bursting at the seams; her smile lights up a whole room and her eyes are sparkling with happiness. I am losing myself and my lungs are getting smaller and smaller, making it impossible for me to breathe.

Everything is slipping away from me. Hope. Patience. Control. Time. I have looked everywhere for her, and I am running out of time to find her. However, she is still nowhere to be found.

And every second that passes without her, I am dying.

I am doing everything I can to simply locate her—any hint, any information that might point me in her direction—but nothing is working. How someone can vanish in a matter of hours is beyond me. I do not even think this is possible. I had the entire city police force the moment I found out Chandini was missing. Now that the fourth day is almost over, I still have nothing.

Rahul and Sumit investigated the case after hearing about the fire and the discovery of the bodies. After speaking with the commissioner, they issued a high-alert alert instructing people to look for the car that was used to abduct her. However, after the car left Delhi and headed towards Mumbai on the highway, it vanished from sight. And there is no turn on that route to change their direction unless they stop in between and switch cars. This is the biggest possible unless the fucking earth swallows them.

"Bhaiya...?"

As I turned to face the door, I noticed Athwa staring at me anxiously and fumbling with his hands. I gestured for him to approach me, and he did so right away.

"Do you need something?" I rasped.

Shaking his head, he took a seat next to me. We sat there in silence for a while, and then I felt him lean in towards me. I hug him, putting my arm around him the way Chandini always does when he visits our room. I heard him wipe his nose quickly and sniff.

"Tell me what happened, Athwa."

"Angel... I am missing her. I want her to return soon. I do not like this, bhaiya. I do not like being so far away from her." He cries. And I feel like the act I have been putting on is slowly coming apart.

Mom informed him that Chandini had been gone for a while but would return shortly. Mom had made up this for him so that he would not get to know anything. He should not know the real situation.

"I hate it as well. Do not worry, though; she will return soon." I cleared my throat, sniffing.

Lifting his head, he gives me a look. "How soon? I hear the same things from everyone all the time! I know she has not gone anywhere; you are keeping something from me." Tears trail down his cheeks and his mouth quivers. "Just tell me. Angel told me that I am strong, and I am a big boy, so tell me. I can handle it."

"When did you grow up and become mature?" I murmured, speaking to myself rather than to him. "You want me to be honest with you?" He gives a nod. "Okay... there is a bad person who has taken Chandini with him. And we are looking for her right now."
