She is gone

She is gone.

I am unable to find her.

It has been four days, and I still can not find my Chandini.

"Turn this fucking city upside down! Rip it apart! I do not give a damn! I want my wife in front of my eyes, or I am going to burn this damn city down!"

My voice bellowed as I grabbed the collar of the commissioner, his eyes bulging out of his sockets. He takes a sharp breath and tries to wrench my hand away.

I stagger backwards as someone tugs me violently. Rahul gave a nod, and I released the trembling man from my grasp, watching him scatter away with his team. I grab my hair and jerk my shoulders away from him, pulling at them.

"Screaming at others will not find her; they are all searching for her. And take a look at yourself—my shit looks better than you." With a shout, he grabs my shoulders and gives me a shake. "Rudra, get yourself together. It makes sense that you would be concerned, and I do understand. But you won't get anything from being like this."

I backed away from him, clenching my jaw as tears started to burn in my eyes and swatted his hands away.

After I left the hospital and reached home, I stripped and entered the shower. I felt my skin scorching under the hot water as I leaned against the shower wall, but I was unfazed by it. Subsequently, everything returned, striking me like a boulder, and I experienced the weight of it all pressing upon me.

The moment I watched her walk down the hall, I had a heavy feeling in my chest. I tried to ignore it, but I could not and that was the biggest mistake of my life.

I should have gone with them.

I should have protected them.

I disappointed them both.

Muktha is in the hospital, and Chandini has gone missing.

When I went to look for them after they had not returned for almost ten minutes. Muktha was lying unconscious outside the restroom. She had been seriously injured and had not woken up for three days because of the wound on her head. Yesterday, at last, she awoke. Although I was relieved she was safe, I was afraid for my wife.

Muktha explained everything after being questioned about what had transpired. They went to the restroom and when after some time, she heard the sound of the door clicking shut and a strangled scream. As she went to look, she was attacked and struck in the head by someone. She only remembers waking up in the hospital yesterday; she has no memory of anything after that. Knowing that Chandini had disappeared, she broke down and blamed herself.

But the only one who should be blamed is me. I should have been more careful watching over her.

After getting dressed, I went outside and sat down on my room's floor, exactly like Chandini does. She claimed that it makes her feel comfortable, but I do not believe that. Considering that I felt nothing but... emptiness and a lack of consolation or assurance.
