Two weeks later
"Why are you here so early?"I rolled my eyes at her behaviour. Who speaks to a guest in such a rude manner?
"It is not earl—"
"It's seven in the morning, for god sake, Mr. Kapoor!" Barkha nearly screamed.
I let out a sigh and went into the kitchen to fetch some water. She did not even offer it to me. That is a warm welcome!
"Just call me Rudra. And I am here to talk." I took a bottle of water and faced her as she handed me a glass.
"Thank you."
"That is fine; I do not want your mouth to come into contact with the bottle." She shrugged and stormed out the door, cursing me for disturbing her sleep.
I do not even know how to respond to that. So I put the bottle and glass back on the counter and went to the living room. But Barkha is not here.
Then I heard my name and footsteps, and the next thing I knew, Taara was sprinting down the stairs, so fast that I was afraid she would trip. She simply jumped at me, and I caught her just in time; otherwise, she would have fallen.
Barkha screamed her name, terrified. But when I held her in my arms, she sighed with relief.
"You do not run down the stairs, kid. You could have gotten hurt." I told Taara while facing her, and she mumbled sorry.
"I missed you! Can I paint your nails again?" She is quite energetic for someone who has only recently awoken. Her sparkling eyes make me think of my darling. Taara resembles her sister, the smaller version of Chandini.
Taara and I got along well and quickly while I was here. She frequently calls to complain about Samay not allowing her to eat pizza, and Barkha claims she does not know how to cook, which is correct; she is terrible at cooking.
I feel terrible in my heart for not being at ease talking to or simply looking at Athwa, as I do with Taara. But I am doing my best to give him the love and attention he deserves and seeks from me.
Chandini is doing everything she can to help me improve my relationship with Athwa, and I believe we can make it work. I do not want him to experience what I have been experiencing for nearly my entire life.
My father has ignored me for the majority of my life. I understand how it feels to be overlooked. And I have been making him feel ignored for far too long. It is now time to make a change.
I was jolted back into reality when I felt a sharp pain in my shoulder. I glared at Taara, and she blinked and smiled innocently as if she had not just bit me.
At this point, I'm convinced these siblings are innocently violent.
"Taara, I told you not to bite anyone!" I said, but she wiggled out of my arms and giggled her way upstairs.
