Ayaansh and I sprinted into the room, the door slamming behind us. My heart hammered in my chest.

Only a few relatives, including an uncle(Ruhanika’s father), aunty(Ruhanika’s mother), Mumma, and papa, bua and fufaji knew that the Ruhi didi(Ruhanika) had fled the wedding. 

Ayaansh went to her room to see if she needed anything, but instead of the bride, he found a note.

Everyone present in the room was tensed, Uncle was constantly yelling in the phone call to find Ruhi didi while Aunty was sobbing hard for her daughter and Mumma was worried and supporting Aunty.

Soon Aadhish bhai(Ruhanika’s elder brother) entered the room, scanned the situation and found the letter she left before running away. Uncle shouted at him,

“Where did she run away? I gave you one job, that was to keep an eye on her and you could not even do one thing. I feared that she was up to something and saw the result.”

“We did not know that she would take such a drastic step leaving all of us ashamed.” Aadhish bhai said

“I do not know anything, just find my daughter. What will she be doing right now? She never travelled alone, she has never been alone in her life. Please just find my daughter, if she did not want to marry, she could have said we would have cancelled the wedding.” Aunty said sobbing.

“Do not worry we have sent people to find her and we still have little time, I think we should inform Arjun uncle and Vedika aunt about the situation. ” Aadhish bhai said.

“Yes you are right, call them to the room.” Uncle said.

I saw Aadhish bhai call them, and I still could not believe that Ruhi didi ran away.

As long as I have known her she has always been a little do not mess with me type of girl but never rude and I know how much she loves and cares about her reputation and her family.

I don’t know why I am feeling this rage inside me and anger towards her for leaving her family to deal with this situation.

Did she never think about him before leaving? About his feelings, his reputation?

Soon after some time, his parents entered the room and sensing the tense environment Arjun uncle finally asked,

“What happened Arvind ji? Where is Ruhanika?”

“I am very ashamed to break this news that Ruhi ran away.”

“WHAT?”

“Yes, and she left this note before going.” Uncle said and handed the note to his parents.

“Dad, by the time you read this note, I will be far away from here. I feel so guilty for bringing disgrace to you and our family, but I cannot go through with this wedding. There is something else that I want to pursue in my life, something that is very important to me, and I cannot give it up. I had no choice but to do what I did. I beg you to forgive me and to respect my decision. Please do not try to find me or bring me back. If I ever come back, I will accept any punishment you give me to earn your forgiveness. Please do not judge me harshly, I will tell you everything if I ever see you again. I am sorry to everyone for hurting them... Ruhi... ”

Everybody was shocked while listening and could not believe what happened even though it took me a few moments to accept the reality.

“We should cancel the wedding.” Arjun uncle said after a few moments.

“NO, we can’t cancel the wedding.”
