It was 7:00 pm last time I checked, one hour still left.
Why is time running slow today?
"Time is not running slow. It is you who is overthinking."
A deep voice rang out, drawing my attention to the man sitting in the front passenger seat, who was casually scrolling through his phone.
Devansh Agnihotri, Rudraksh's cousin and my other brother-in-law, did not attend the wedding. He returned this morning and rushed to the hospital when he heard about last night's incident.
He is older than me, Sridha, and Yug bhai, a good-looking, tall man. His appearance reflects a dangerous aura, something that can only be felt. No wonder he served in the Indian Army; with this aura, he would have been a natural leader. But he retired and now lives in Italy.
"Shouldn't you be resting or be with Rudra?"
I asked, not understanding why he was coming with us when he should be with his brother in the hospital.
"Yug and Ayaansh are there to look after him. My brother wouldn't want his wife to be in danger, which she might face tonight. Don't worry, tonight I'm just a spectator while you are the player."
Tonight, I am about to do something huge-something I have planned and prepared for a long time. Coincidentally, it aligns with yesterday's event, which only increased my desire to take decisive action. He wants to be part of this plan without knowing the full truth; he just wants to be there. Right now, Advait bhai and I, Devansh bhai, are in a car on our way to a birthday party. The car stopped, and my heart began to race as I thought about what tonight could hold. The door on my side opened, and Devansh bhai offered his hand. I accepted and stepped outside.
Before us was our destination, Malhotra Mansion.
Soon, we entered the mansion, and my eyes could not handle the flashiness of the party. The hall was filled with influential people, and he spent a fortune on someone he was just playing with.
And there he was, Tej Malhotra, clad in a white suit along with some of his acquaintances, conversing with some people.
How easily he charms the people around him with his talk.
Our eyes clashed, and a huge grin appeared on his face as he walked towards us. I looked at Devansh bhai, and he was also watching Tej walking towards us.
"He is the one."
I whispered, bracing myself to face him.
"Look who finally graced this party with her appearance?"
"Good evening"
"I'm glad that you accepted my invitation for tonight's party" Tej looked unusually enthusiastic tonight, but his expression changed a little when he saw someone by my side.
"It looks like your husband is not accompanying you tonight."
"He is busy. Meet Mr Devansh Agnihotri, his brother."
"Nice to meet you, Mr Devansh Agnihotri"
He greeted, while Devansh bhai just nodded and left for the counter, leaving me alone with this monster.
"He doesn't seem interested, does he?"
"He doesn't have a habit of being a chatterbox."
"Right, but at least he left me with my wildcat."
My blood boils whenever he calls me that.
I'm not his.
"I don't see Aastha. Where is she?"
His whole demeanour changed, and the grin he had wiped out, "She is getting ready while I'm looking out for the guest. And it would be rude to let such a gorgeous woman stand in the middle of the hall, not if she wants to dance." I looked around as the lights went off, and a song started to play as the couple came forward to dance. I realised my position and moved to a nearby table.
