The colour from his face was drained. He was not expecting Ayaansh here, and not only him but Yug, Sridha, Tara, and even Advait were in the house, even though I was not expecting them; the more the merrier.
Whatever happened last night, well, that was hard to explain...it's something I had never experienced and was very sensual and, well, a lot of butterflies swam in my stomach.
"Welcome back, bhai, all of us were waiting for you." Sridha came forward with a glass of water for him.
He drank.
"Yeah, even Advait came today. Let's have movie night like old times, along with the addition of the new members," Yug chimed in, giving Advait a high-five.
"No, tomorrow is a big event, so much work to do, no time today." Rudra tried to put his point across.
"Even if Didi wants to watch, since she is the one who called us," Ayaansh voiced out while munching on the popcorn.
Now I was the centre of attention, "Of course, the movie night is on, I invited them."
Now the attention was back on him, and finally, a minute later, "Go on."
He went to his room.
Everyone cheered, but I didn't know it was such a big deal.
"Bhai, never let any of us stay here, let alone have a movie night. It's always back at home. Shaadi ka asar ab dikh raha hai." Sridha explained, mouth curling into a grin.
Ohh! Wow!
"Guys, pick the movie till I get freshened up," I exclaimed, walking into the room.
Upon entering the room, I didn't find Rudra; he must be in the bathroom. I went toward the dressing table.
Looking at myself in the mirror feels strange; whenever I see my reflection, that night is the only reminder that flashes back. My dishevelled clothes turned bloody from bleeding, and the broken glass stabbed my chest. My gaze, so distant, fixed on something that wasn't even there. No pain, no tears-just numbness under the weight of a thousand screams and the unsaid things lingering in the darkness of her eyes. It has become habitual; sometimes it scares me.
What if this is how I'm going to see myself for the rest of my life? I had already lost once by trusting the wrong people, but not this time. I will retaliate, and the world shall witness their fall.
"Are you alright?" A soft whisper penetrated the voiceless screams, bringing me back to earth, only to find him standing beside me.
His body was freshly bathed, and the familiar scent of musk filled the air, bringing a sense of warmth and life, leaving me feeling lost.
"I'm fine."
I answered shortly and hurried to the bathroom. I didn't want to engage with him, knowing I couldn't manage myself without feeling overwhelmed by his proximity.
I calmed myself, changed into a fresh pair of trousers and a T-shirt, and entered the room, preparing myself only to discover he was gone.
I went outside, and everybody was already seated, including Rudra. A space for me was left beside him.
Tara settled at the far left end of the sofa. Next to her, Sridha sat, followed by Advait and Rudraksh, with the space next to him, whereas Ayaansh and Yug bhai had made themselves comfortable on the floor, surrounded by pillows and popcorn.
After settling comfortably, the movie started, and everyone seemed excited for the night. But my mind was racing somewhere else. Tomorrow's event is going to be huge. Many people will attend this event, and finally, he will also come.
