A month passed.
A month has passed since the accident, and I shifted back to my parents' house to take care of them. I was so close to losing them once again, first me, then my parents; this is no coincidence. There is someone behind both the accidents, someone who wants to unalive us. I asked Ayaansh once again to observe whether he noticed anything strange, but unfortunately, he didn't see anything weird.

It's unusual, I have coordinated with the police to find any evidence of the intentional murder, but it has led to nothing. Ultimately, this case was closed as an accident.

In my previous life, my parents' death remained a mystery till my last breath. I never found who killed them, and the strange part is that they were killed by a collision with a truck, whereas this time, they collided with the tree along with Ayaansh.

Things are getting messier because Rudraksh is once again involved in this game. I didn't want that. But right now, my priority is finding that person who pushed me off the waterfall.

"Happy Birthday, Samyuktha"

"Samyuktha, where are the files?"

Aarya snapped me out, only to find myself as the centre of attention in the meeting room. All the eyes were on me, especially his. I examined the room, and Aarya looked concerned, while some of them rolled their eyes. My face burned with shame, finding myself in such a situation, but I quickly passed her the file, mumbling Sorry.

The meeting went on, but I could feel it on me, his gaze, sharp and unwavering and somewhere angry. Suddenly, the room felt so tight and suffocating that I wished the ground would swallow me. Things between us had grown worse; the rift between us was deepening. I could feel him slipping away from me; he stopped responding to me, except when it was related to my parents or Ayaansh, and I didn't push him.

As soon as the meeting was over, I rushed to leave the room when he called me, "Samyuktha, stay."

I halted at my position while the other members left the room. The time felt like it was running slow; I swear I could hear my heart pounding when I heard my name from his lips.
I turned to face him.

His expression was cold, unlike before, as he relaxed in the chair. I walked back and stood in front of him. He isn't taking care of himself at all; the eye bags were obvious, and he even looks thinner than before. It irked me. I get it, things are not great around us, but how can he neglect his own health?

I clicked my tongue, which apparently caught his attention. He questioned, "What was that for?"

"You're neglecting your health."

He sighed, "Just business stuff."

"Yeah, I could see that. Still, at least complete your sleep", I rolled my eyes.

"I could say the same."

My face burned, "My situation is different. I've to look after my parents."

"And I have appointed people for them, you should take it easy on yourself."

"I don't trust anyone with their safety at the moment."

"Not even me?"

"I never said that, I...I'm just cautious."

I wasn't trying to hurt him, but somehow I did with words, again. And though I feel terrible saying this, I cannot hide the fact that danger is lurking in the shadows, and some people want to take advantage of my situation. I've been broken multiple times before; my choices have led me into the void.

I don't get to break now-I've to be hard.

"Are you coming tonight?" I asked, regaining my posture.

"I am", he said, still his eyes boring into mine.
