She froze.
She hasn't said anything. Not even a whisper.
But something shifted, and that smile on her face was gone.
The spark in her eye, was gone.

My arm lightly rested on her waist, but even through the fabric, I could feel the sudden tautness in her muscles, which she was trying to restrain herself, to collect herself.

Something was wrong.

Her gaze, in which I could see no warmth, only coldness with a hint of pain, was fixated on something near the entrance.

I looked at the entrance, and there he was. A man in a black tux entered the room with a trimmed beard and hair styled neatly on the back, making him look younger than he would be. He looked only a little older than me, but it looked like he was with someone. I looked back at Samyuktha; her breaths were getting short.

There is something deeply wrong; who is he that his presence disturbed my wife's peace?

Is he the reason behind her nightmares?

Is he the one tormenting my wife's dream?

She turned to me, her face drained of colour, with her lips slightly parted. I rubbed her waist slightly to transfer some warmth, to reassure her that I was with her, no matter what.

Because whoever was messing with my wife's peace was now my problem.
I don't care if he is a big shot or not; if he is, anyhow, the reason behind my wife's slightest despair, he is gone.
I tightened my grip on her waist.
Subtle, firm and grounding.

And in that split second, she relaxed, and her muscles loosened up too. After ensuring that she was relaxed, I turned back to see the man, but what I saw next made my heart stop, and not for a good reason.

There she was, a chapter from my life that ended years ago, but it tainted my whole life. I never thought I would meet her again, not after how she left me, but fate always punches your worst feelings at the most vulnerable moments.

Aastha Agrawal

She is the worst feeling, dressed in elegance like she didn't crumble my trust and walked over me. She is walking with that man; it seems like she is his partner tonight.

Our eyes locked, and there was no surprise on her face.

She knew we would see each other eventually.

I should have realised that she was up for something when she sent that message.

Closing my eyes for a brief second, I took a deep breath, sighed, and looked back at my wife. And, this time, her attention was on me, looking worried.

Her perfect, thick brows drew together, gently, like a silent question written across her face.

Looking back at my wife reminded me of that night when I nearly drowned myself, for someone who wasn't even worth it.

How I made my wife so worried for me, so disappointed in me.
I would rather die than make her go through all that again.

I let myself calm down, not wanting to worry about my wife, even though my heart was ripped again with the painful memories.

They met Haru's agent, Anant Mathur. After talking for a bit, they proceeded towards our direction. Their faces displayed something, arrogance, which can be seen from miles away.

It would be a fascinating sight to see it crumble into ashes.

"A lovely good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Very sorry to keep you all waiting. I want you all to introduce my friends and business partners. This is Tej Malhotra, a prominent investor, and this is Aastha Agrawal, his fiancée and the Head of our Visual Production."
