One step.
Second step.
Third step, and soon I marched towards them, and before I could think about anything else, I yanked a fistful of hair, dragging her head back.
When our eyes clashed, her emotions gave her away: confusion, shock, realisation, and finally fear.
I forcefully detached Aarya from Rudraksh, “Sa…Samyuktha, why are you he—?”

SLAP!

The slap echoed in the air, leaving silence in its wake. She fell onto the ground, almost unconscious. Now, my body has started to tremble due to betrayal and disbelief, and I never expected the betrayal from her.
How could she do this? Sabotage our friendship.

She was on the ground, one gone, time for another. I turned to my cheating husband, I stilled.

I thought at this point, nothing could break me anymore. How wrong I was.
“Sa..Samu”
“Samyukkkthaa”

The only name he kept chanting like a mantra. He was lying on the bed, arms spread, the buttons of his shirt ripped.

He’s drunk. Half unconscious.

I rushed to his side and his body. It was burning. His pupils dilated, then drifted upwards, his whole body trembling.

No. He’s drugged.

My heart skipped a beat.
“Rudra”

I scooted down to his side, “Hey, Rudra…open your eyes.”
“Samyukthaa”

He kept murmuring, water filling my eyes, “Yes, Rudra. It's me, Samyuktha”
“Myy Samyukthaa, mine”
“Your Samyuktha”

I answered, cupping his face, and my thumb brushing softly across his cheeks, wiping away his tears. He is in pain. Realising that it's me, he tried to get up, but his body gave up. What happened?

“Didi, get aside. Let me check.”

Ayaansh rushed to his other side, checking his pulse. He gave me a worried look and instantly informed, “We need to hurry. This is not a normal drug; he needs medical emergency care. He won’t survive if we wait any longer.”

I was petrified, no, no, no, no, I can’t lose him. I can’t—
“Aah”

She was still on the floor. I can only see red; it’s all her fault.

“No, didi, jiju is more important than her right now. Not now.”

Right.

I was in the back seat with Rudra in my arms and Ayaansh driving the car, and he kept passing out. Still, he kept murmuring my name. I was crying at this point, seeing him in this state, it’s breaking my heart. The guilt is slowly rising due to my believing that he cheated on me, forgetting his promise to me.

My phone rang, it was Yug bhai,
“Hello, bhai”
“Bhabhi, what happened?”
“Bhai, Ru…Rudra. He…he”
“Bhabhi, please calm down.”
“Bhai Rudra is drugged. He is not doing well. Please come to the hospital hurriedly.”

“Mat ro bachcha”(Don’t cry, baby)
His weak yet slurred voice only enhanced my crying. I don’t want to cry, but these tears won’t stop running. How could he console me when he is the one who is in pain?

“Please, Ayaansh, hurry up!”
I begged him.

He shouldn’t be driving, but there was no way out.

When we reached the hospital, Yug bhai and Advait bhai were waiting for us there. They immediately called for an emergency. He was rushed to the emergency ward, where doctors were examining him and trying to stabilise him.

However, he was resisting the doctor; his body was highly sensitive at the moment. Screaming, throwing hands if someone even tries to go near him, it's a heartbreaking sight. His eyes are full of pain, and he might hurt himself.
