Scene: Thor accidentally struck you with lightning.
You loved summer storms. You loved how they were chaos, but full of serenity at the same time. You smiled as you watched the lightning strike and thunder roll from your bedroom window. What was even better was that the electricity was out, so you could see the light perfectly through the darkness.
You suddenly saw something descend from the sky.
What the heck was that?
You lived out in the country so you didn't usually see much in the sky other than clouds, the sun, the moon, and stars. You quickly ran downstairs as you grabbed your rain jacket as well as an umbrella. You knew it was unsafe, but you had to see what the mysterious object was.
You walked in the direction you saw it. Soon enough, you were in a clearing surrounded by trees. You gasped as you saw a figure standing in the middle, a smoking symbol on the ground beneath it. Then, it turned towards you. As a flash of lightning struck, you could see his face. And my, you swooned.
Now, he's definitely a fallen angel.
His long, blonde hair swirled around him from the wind, as did a cloak. His hair wasn't weirdly long, but the type that looked amazing when he was shirtless. (You could tell.)
He had something in his hand, and you couldn't tell what it was until he pointed it at you. "Loki! I warned you not to follow me, brother! Now, you will pay!" He roared over the storm. Suddenly, something hit you. It was hot, searingly hot. But it felt, good. It filled every fiber in your being, and you felt power. Before you could blink, you were lying on the ground, your clothes smoking.
That's when the angel ran over to you. "I sincerely apologize, Midgardian. I did not realize you were not my brother. Now it has cost you your li- Wait, how are you not dead? Explain, Human." His dazzling blue eyes were searching yours intently, part awe, part anger, part curiosity, and... part fear.
You blinked a couple times. "I-I don't know." Suddenly, sparks flew out of your fingertips. The strange man backed up. "The metal man and the angry one must see this."
*****
At the Avengers Tower, New York"How is this possible?" Captain America asked, a bit scared. You were fangirling like crazy. All of the legendary Avengers were in the same room with you, talking with you, about you. Whoops, another spark flew from your fingers.
I just can't believe I didn't recognize Thor sooner.
Tony Stark and Bruce Banner came back with a genetics test that they took. They pulled it up on a screen. "She's actually had this electromagnetic telekinesis her whole life. The electricity from Thor's lightening made the final development in her genes that caused them to activate." Bruce explained.
Captain America raised an eyebrow. "Wait, I fazed out. In English please?" He questioned. Bruce sighed as Tony stepped up. "Basically, she's had the ability to control lightning like Thor her whole life, but it hadn't fully developed. That was, until Thor struck her with lightening. That topped it off and she can control lightning too now." Tony explained.
Bruce stepped up again. "But that's not all." They all were starting to look even more scared.
This isn't how it was supposed to happen. I was supposed to meet them and fangirl and have them laugh at my awkwardness, not have them be scared of me.
"She's even more powerful than Thor." Everyone in the room looked to Thor, waiting for his reaction. From what you had heard, he was usually a boastful, prideful person, so you knew this must have hurt his ego. It was certainly news to your ears.
But his expression was passive, emotionless, like he was in deep thought. Hawkeye brought up the question everyone had been wondering, even you. "How is she more powerful?" They all turned back to Bruce. "She can control all electromagnetic energy. We don't know what that entitles, but-" Right then, a huge spark shot from your fingers and flew to the ceiling light above. Then... darkness.
Another spark erupted from your fingertips so everyone could see. "I am so sorry-" You apologized as you looked around, but you faltered as you looked to see all the Avengers backed up against the windows on the opposite side of the room from you.
No, you thought. This isn't happening.
"Guys?" All of them were still backed against the windows. You could feel tears stream down your face. "Hey, look." Captain America pointed out the window he was at. You looked up to see, a blackout. For nearly all the buildings a mile around, it was pitch black darkness.
They all turned back to you. "What did you do?" Hawkeye asked, almost angry.
They are afraid of me.
"I-I'm so sorry." You stuttered, beginning to sob. "I never wanted this," You were backing up from them, towards the exit. "I never wanted to be this."
Huh. You thought. Earth's mightiest heroes are afraid of me. Didn't see that one coming.
You hit a chair before you backed up even more. "I'm sorry I'm a monster." You still had the spark in your hand, and you saw their faces soften as you ran out.
You ran to the elevator and pressed the 'close doors' button. Then, you cried. You let out the tears you had been holding back from the moment Bruce had told you what you are.
A monster.
They were afraid. You hadn't realized that the lights had gone out in the elevator and that it had jammed.
Great, I must've done this too. I never wanted this. I wanted to live a normal life. I wanted to meet a nice guy, settle down, have a family, grow old with him, and die with a good life under my belt. Not to find out I'm a freak that even other freaks are afraid of!
Hot tears stained your cheeks, and you hated it. You hated being weak. You hated to be pessimistic and pitiful and you hated to cry. You especially hated this type of crying. It was the worst kind. It was the type of crying that you can do nothing about. You can only sit and cry it out. Each tear has its own reason to be let go.
One drop, fear. Another drop, hatred. Another, pain. A couple more, regret, lost causes, a plain sorrow. Suddenly, you heard your name being called. It was muffled, and it sounded like it was coming from outside the elevator.
"(Y/N)!" The voice boomed. It was male, you could tell. You tried to shout back, but your throat hurt from all the crying. Then you realized, you couldn't get out. You didn't know how to get the elevator to turn back on. "Help!" You shouted. Suddenly, there was a loud screech. The doors to the elevator were pried open by... Thor.
He ran in and hugged you.
Whoa, you thought. This sure was sudden.
He looked down at you, all seriousness on his face. "Lady (Y/N), you are not a monster. The puny humans had no right to be as judgmental towards you as they were. They were simply unaware of the extent of your marvelous powers, and did not know what to do. Do not worry, I will teach you how to control your powers, even if it is against their wishes."
Then you saw Captain America step in the elevator behind Thor. "That won't be necessary." He smiled sadly at you. "(Y/N), we are truly sorry for treating you as we did. I mean, we had no room to judge you. Please, forgive us?" He asked. "Yeah. We're sorry." Piped up the rest of them. You looked up to see all the rest of the Avengers outside of the elevator. You could even see Nick Fury in the background.
You and Thor both seemed to realize that he was still hugging you. He backed off and you gave them all a wet smile as you nodded. They all smiled and Nick Fury walked up to you. "So, (Y/N), would you like to join the Avengers Initiative? Talent like yours shouldn't be wasted." He spoke, slightly grinning at you. You looked up to your fallen angel, and he was still staring at you, just as intently as the first time. You turned back to Fury.
"Yes, I would be honored to."
