Yes, working at a ice cream shop at the beach wasn't the most ideal way to spend your summer, considering the fact that all of your friends were going on a vacation to go on a tour of Europe.

Yes, you would have more time to catch up on Netflix if you didn't have a boss that was constantly breathing down your neck.

Yes, you could actually enjoy the water at the hottest part of the day if you didn't have the longest shift.

But, no, you wouldn't trade it for anything.

Why?

Because of him.

You saw him everyday. He never missed once. He always stopped by your shop first to get the same thing: a vanilla ice cream cone with Poptart crumbles sprinkled on top. If he was meeting up with some of his buddies, he would buy all of them ice cream cones as well. You've also counted at least fifteen times that he bought an ice cream cone for a kid behind him. It melted your heart every time.

He would always come to surf if the waves were big enough. If they weren't, he would either sit and read classics like The Old Man and The Sea, Moby Dick, even Shakespeare, or he would play volleyball with anyone that would step in. He would even teach little kids how to serve the ball.

And that wasn't even mentioning his looks. He had surfer-length dirty blond hair that gleamed in the sunlight and eyes that were the bluest blue to ever blue. You also didn't mind his abs and biceps, just to name a few.

To say the least, you were in love. Who could be more perfect?

Just a couple problems:
One, you didn't know his name. You just called him Mr. Perfect.

Two, he didn't really know you existed. You were simply the girl that got his double-scoop ice cream cone.

That was until the day when your boss, surprisingly, let you have a break.

"You've been working hard enough, and it's hot enough, I'll let you off." You raised your eyebrows, but proceeded to rip off your gloves and apron before he could change his mind. You quickly grabbed your bag and ran out to the small restroom next to the Surf Shack. After you had changed into your pre-packed swimsuit, (you always kept it in your bag for this specific occasion) you walked to the ideal spot and set up a towel and chair.

It was just the beginning of the hottest part of the day, and you were going to enjoy every bit of it.

You sat with your sunglasses on and your favorite book out, hoping to get a nice tan while you were reading.

Suddenly, a large shadow came over you. You turned to see a couple buff college boys smiling down at you.
"Hey sweetie, you look too hot to be sitting out here."

You looked back down at your book, hoping they would go away.

"Hey, we were talking to you."
"And I'm not interested."
"Hey, sweetie, don't be like that."
"Don't call me sweetie."

A couple snickered before you felt yourself being hoisted up out of your seat.

You stammered at them to stop, but they continued to cheer as they carried you towards the water. When you realized what they were going to do, you started to kick and scream.

"I CAN'T SWIM! STOP! I SWEAR I CAN'T SWIM!"

They all just laughed as they carried you deeper into the water.
