Scene: You and Bruce get pranked.

*Tony's P.O.V.*

Bruce had been really down lately, and he was totally bumming my mood. Every time I tried to science with him, he would just brush me off and go pout or something.

I was getting really sick of his wimpy attitude, that was my thing. "Bruce, I am tired of this whole 'depressed' persona you've adopted. We need to do something. Come on, we're going out." I grabbed his arm and tried to pull him up. "Come on, Brucie. We're going to that café you like for some weird reason."

He only shook his head. "Tony, could you not right now? I'm really not in the mood for this." I scoffed. "That's the whole reason I'm doing this." I finally got him up and out the door, and we made out into the warm, summer air.

"See?" I gestured around us. "Now, that wasn't so bad. You can finally breathe." He frowned. "I don't see why you're doing this, Tony." I shrugged. "You're being a grump, so I thought I'd try to cheer you up."

He grumbled as we headed to the café. When we got inside, he froze, staring straight ahead. I followed his gaze to see a girl sitting in a booth, a drink in her hand, and an open book on the table.

"Tony, can we please go? I don't really want to-" I grinned. "Nope." I popped the 'p' on the end and pulled him over to the table right next to hers. She barely looked up, and I saw her make eye contact with Bruce before she quickly looked back down to her book and took a sip of her drink.

This is getting good.

"So, what do you want, Bruce? And no, you can't have that girl over there." His cheeks were a bright red, as were the girl's.

This is fun. I should be a regular matchmaker.

"Tony, could you please shut up?" Bruce gave me the death glare. "Calm down, Broccoli. You're starting to go green at the gills." Bruce sighed and began to play with his fork, trying to relax. The girl just giggled. "What's so funny?" Bruce asked, making eye contact with the girl and actually speaking to her.

She quit giggling and gulped, and I could tell she was deciding if she should answer or not.

"Well?"

*2nd Person P.O.V.* (Of You)

You hesitated. You'd had a crush on Bruce Banner the first time you both came into this café. You guys would exchange formalities, maybe have some small talk, and then part ways like unlikely friends.

"Nothing. It's just that you two are a bit weird and perfect together." It took them a couple seconds before they realized what you were implying. "What? No! No, no, no!" They spoke simultaneously, shaking their heads. "No, I've already got a girlfriend." Tony Stark explained.

"What about you?" You turned to Bruce. "Umm, well- I-I'm single." He rubbed his chin as he spoke. You nodded politely. "Well, we really have to get going-" Bruce started, and you interrupted him. "But, you guys haven't ordered anything, let alone eaten." Tony shrugged.

"That's why you need to come to the Avengers Tower at eight tonight. I'm having a party and you're invited. Bye." He and Bruce left, but Bruce gave you an awkward smile as he walked out.

*****
Of course, it was awkward for you. You were dressed in a simple little black dress, while everybody else was dripping with expensive cologne and jewelry. Finally, you saw Bruce. "(Y/N)! How are you? Are you having fun?" You sighed.

I ought to tell the truth.

"Not really. I don't know anybody here, they all seem like really important people, and I don't really drink." He grinned. "Me neither. I know just the place we can go."

He led you along the walls of the room, trying to sneak past everybody. Tony saw the both of you though. "Hey guys! Is the champagne okay? I had it shipped from-" "Tony, (Y/N) isn't feeling too well. I'm taking her to the bathroom." Tony nodded, letting you two pass. You didn't see it, but he winked at Bruce behind your back.

Bruce led you to another floor, where you gasped in awe. Tons of books lined the walls: from classics to new best-sellers, from nonfiction to sci-fi. You immediately ran to the wall to look at them all.

You heard Bruce chuckle behind you. You didn't know that he was admiring your enthusiasm from afar. "I thought you might like it. Tony just had it installed and- well I- I just..." He ran his hand through his hair, distressed. Of course, you found it completely adorable. (And a bit sexy.)

He hesitantly walked towards you and pulled a book out from over your shoulder. His arm brushed yours and goosebumps erupted across your arm. "I saw you reading this one this morning." You recognized it. "Yeah, Pride & Prejudice is one of my favorites. I read it over and over."

He grinned. "Yeah. As a classic romance novel, it kind of has that affect on people." He was nearing closer, his chin almost resting over your shoulder. If you turned your head just a hair, you'd be face-to-face and lip-to-lip.

The cutest boy I ever sa-a-aw was sipping ci-der through a... never mind.

You did turn, and the next thing you knew, he... held hands with you.

I know, so romantic.

Shivers still rushed down your spine with the physical contact and you couldn't help but smile. He saw your smile and he grinned as well. "(Y/N), I've liked you for a long time now. And I was wondering, if you would-"

Suddenly, you heard the beginning of At Last, by Etta James. You and Bruce broke apart and were met by darkness as the lights shut off and candles lit up out of nowhere. Then, one of the shelves flipped and a crackling fire came up on the other side. The small armchairs sunk into the ground and were replaced by lavish sofas. (Couches, either or.)

You didn't know what was going on, but Bruce just shouted. "TONY!!!" In the fire light, you could see the veins on his neck begin to go green. You had to do something, and fast. You had to calm him down, or the library, or even the whole building, could be torn apart. You turned him around and kissed him, putting yourself into it.

Soon enough, he kissed you back. You smiled again, and he smiled as well against your lips. As you pulled apart, he looked down at you. "(Y/N), what I was going to say, was, would you like to go out with me? As-" "As your girlfriend?" You finished for him. He nodded and blushed. "Yeah."

You beamed at him. "Of course." And that's when packets of confetti exploded all over the library.

"TONY!!!"
