Sirius sat at the desk, smiling thankfully at McGonagal who handed Sirius some parchment and fresh ink.
"Dear Mr and Mrs Lupin,
It's Sirius! Firstly, hope you're both doing well and I hope we get to see you guys at Christmas with the Potters, Remus is excited to see you both! Secondly, I'm wishing to see you guys a bit sooner than expected...
Remus has been given an amazing opportunity to write for the daily prophet this Friday! I can already hear your excitement, don't worry I'm proud of him as well! But unfortunately the night of his writing falls on THAT time of the celestial month and he's had another panic attack.
I'm doing my best to try and get the quidditch match changed to the afternoon but I think Remus would really feel better if he saw you guys, I think it would calm his nerves.

Sirius let the ink dry and then slipped the paper into the envelope, stamping it with the special Hogwarts stamp McGonagal owned for special occasions.
"I'll talk to Madam Hooch and see if she can rearrange the times" McGonagal smiled from her desk, watching Sirius through her glasses as Sirius slumped over the chair.
"Thank you Minnie"
"...he had another panic attack?"
"Mhm, I got to him before he did anything rash"
"What did he say?"
"He was calling himself a monster, he kept saying 'he always wins', meaning- you know..."
McGonagal sighed, letting her owl out the window with the letter in its talons. She walked over and sat down next to Sirius, smiling warmly at him,
"He's lucky to have you Sirius, but I hope you know you can still talk to me if there are things bothering you as well"
Sirius smiled, "I just don't understand why bad things happen to good people Minnie...Remus doesn't deserve any of this"
McGonagal nodded, "unfortunately even I can't conjure a spell that would transform Mr Lupin's life into the one he deserves...however despite the things Mr Lupin goes through I know he believes the pros out way the cons. His speaks very fondly of his family, his friends, the school, and you Sirius"
Sirius smiled, "goodnight Minnie"
"Goodnight Sirius"
Sirius walked out of McGonagal's office and through the halls, he noticed an orange glow coming from the courtyard and upon closer inspection he realized it was Remus, lying down with his face looking up at the stars.
"Mind if I join you?"
Remus smiled and watched as Sirius made himself comfortable between Remus' legs, laying back on his chest and pinching the cigarette off of him. Remus watched the ashy smoke curl in the air as Sirius breathed out, passing it back to Remus.
"You alright?" He asked, he had noticed Sirius hadn't come back to the common room with them and the only other place he visited was Regulus or McGonagal.
"I'm alright, are you?"
"Yeah, I'm alright"
"Alright alright alright, am I right?"
"That was not alright, that was al-wrong"
Sirius shrugged and smiled as he heard Remus' laugh, he turned his head so his ear was against Remus' chest, listening to the rhythmic heart beat.
