Remus finds a certain series of books that he can't explain, after Sirius catches Remus sneaking around, Remus has to work out how he'll explain this situation to Sirius or worse what will happen if him and Sirius are caught
Remus stared at the spiral staircase leading further down, Remus knew the restricted section was full of secrets, hence the restricted part, but he had never expected to find a secret passageway that lead even deeper beneath Hogwarts.
Remus looked back at the dark behind him, the dim lanterns from the library being his only source of light, now it seemed though that maybe Sirius was rubbing off on him because Remus found himself already walking down the stairs without even casting Lumos.
Remus got to the bottom and cast the spell, looking around the room only to see more bookshelves like the ones upstairs, he kept walking forward when he suddenly saw a flicker of light in the corner of his eye, Remus turned his head and followed. When Remus found the source of the light he noticed it was a light blue glow coming from underneath a covered crate.
Remus pulled the cover off the crate and found a chest, Remus opened the crate then took it, he tried using alohamora but the chest stayed locked. Remus took one of the bobby pins he had clipped in his hair for when Sirius needed them, and twisted it into the keyhole. Remus listened for what felt like forever until he heard a click, then opened it up.
"Books?" Remus looked down at the 7 books squeezed together into the chest and ran his finger over the glowing light that went down the spine of each one.
"Why hide a stack of books like this?" Remus looked around at the full shelves, the place looked exactly like the library upstairs but- more, there was just more of everything, more of the long tables, more lights, more desks and shelves, and even more books.
'What do I do?' Remus decided to take the chest, he pulled the chest out and then put the blanket back over the crate, he didn't know what he was going to do with the chest but he did know that he needed to find out whatever was inside those pages.
Remus held the chest close and walked back up the stairs, he had to use both hands so it was, quite literally, a shot in the dark as to where he walked. Remus made his way out of the library, now realising he had to get past the prefects wandering the halls.
'For fucks sake why couldn't it be James and Lily on hall duty tonight?' Remus thought to himself annoyed as he noticed the black and blue robes around the corner.
Remus placed the chest down quietly and pulled his wand out, he threw a spell so it hit one of the steps at the other end of the hall. Remus waited until he heard footsteps leave, before picking up the chest and running across the corridor until he reached the staircase. The staircase moved upwards and Remus finally reached the Gryffindor common room.
Remus poked his head through the portrait after opening it, and sighed in relief when he noticed no one was in the room. Remus walked up the steps and lent his ear against the door, listening for James, Sirius and Peter's heartbeats. Remus had learnt that there were some positives to his situation, which for the majority was a painful one, that a gift on his werewolf side was now all his senses were heightened, especially his hearing, which came in great comfort to him, surprisingly.
Remus knew the difference between his friends based on their heartbeats. Remus would use this to his advantage, especially when his friends were nervous or scared and needed calming, but also to check whether or not they were asleep so he could sneak out on full moons. And in this case it was coming in handy to sneak out to the library.
