Before I start, I'm unsure of who the Dark Arts teacher was while Remus was at school, I keep finding different names and years so for the sake of writing someone who we all know, and frankly I want to bully, Slughorn is the substitute teacher.
Enjoy.
The early morning stole the moon away as Remus limped out of the forest, slowly changing back into his human form. It hadn't been an easy night and he awoke to tearing wounds around his torso, the pain had become so normal at this point that no tears could form in his eyes.
Remus' immediate reaction was to, at the very least, make it to Hagrid's hut but the sun had not fully risen and Remus did not want to wake Hagrid for something so dark.
Remus slowly made his way through the castle, he knew Sirius would be waiting for him on the couch when he arrived. Remus thought he might be able to escape Sirius' interrogation until he looked at his white shirt which was ripped and soaked in blood and sweat. If anyone else were ever to see him like this-
As expected Sirius was laying on the couch, he was half asleep but he was there waiting. Remus hoped he could sneak past but Sirius' dog senses had kicked in and he heard Remus' footsteps.
His arms flopped off the couch and he quickly looked up, "Mooney is that you?"
The lights were dim, the only light coming from the fireplace.
"Yeah it's me Pads, please don't be afraid"
Sirius had never seen Remus in his wolf form, he'd be lying if he said he wasn't afraid. He wasn't afraid of Remus, he was afraid of the animal that possessed him. Part of him had hope that if one day, for whatever reason, they were to come face to face, despite his Mooney being gone, deep inside there would be a Remus who recognized him.
"Are you..."
"Human? Yes, I'm just" Remus' sentence trailed off as he neared Sirius and watched his face turn cold.
"Remus" that was all Sirius managed to get out as his eyes fell upon Remus' bloodied torso. Remus didn't move, he waited for Sirius to come to him.
Sirius held Remus gently, trying his best not to apply pressure against his wounds, "what happened?"
"I'm not sure, he probably got into a fight" Remus fiddled with the ripped fabric.
"Well on the bright side you're not dead so that means he probably won?" Sirius wasn't good at comforting people but he would do anything for his Mooney so real affection was now a thing in his life.
Remus smiled as Sirius accio'd a first aid kit, he wasn't entirely sure how Sirius managed to do that spell or who's kits they were stealing from but it worked so he tried not to question it.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Sirius asked quietly, wrapping the bandages around Remus.
Remus looked over at the soft couch, "no let's just lay down"
Sirius nodded and led Remus over to the couch, "I'm going to go grab you some new clothes I'll be back"
Remus lay back on the cushions carefully, holding his stomach as his back stretched over. He let the pain simmer under his skin until he felt his heartbeat begin to thud violently.
Something that came with being a werewolf was heightened senses. Remus hated it at first but once his friends found out about his secret he decided he would use it to his advantage and became the greatest spy Hogwarts would ever know. Right now however, he was sensing something that made the hair on his neck rise up.
Sirius walked back down the stairs and Remus was staring at the common room door, not moving, his eyes targeted on the shadow.
Sirius walked slowly towards him, "Remus?"
