Taiga opened her eyes slowly, feeling suffocated and boiling hot. For a moment, she forgot where she was, but the memory quickly flooded back—she was in Kaail's bed. Sensing the weight of numerous furs cocooning her body, she couldn't help but smile. That cute giant had wrapped her in his furs, therefore the intense warmth. Lazily, she freed herself from the cozy enclosure.

Taiga's mind overflowed with images of their night entwined in passion. Her hand instinctively reached to touch her right collarbone, tracing the lingering scar from his bite. Gazing down at her naked form, a canvas adorned with a few bruises and scratches, the aftermath of their shared intensity. Soreness enveloped her, but it was the satisfying kind. A giggle escaped her as she recalled his mild frustration when she awoke in that peculiar machine. For a fleeting moment last night, the fear of him rejecting any further intimacy with her had nagged at her, a prospect that unsettled her deeply.

Expecting shyness, Taiga surprised herself with newfound boldness after a night that surpassed her wildest dreams. Kaail had introduced her to pleasures beyond her fantasies, making her first time an unforgettable experience. Despite the ache in her unsteady legs, she stood up, slowly making her way to the door that he had showed her the night before—she needed the bathroom. A persistent smile adorned her face.

Noticing her dress, shoes, and purse meticulously arranged on a chair in the corner, she reached for her phone. Hesitating for a moment, unlocking the screen meant returning to her reality, her life. Her eyes swept the room, lingering on the bed; a part of her longed to retreat, to stay there, in the safety it offered. Taiga wanted to avoid all the responsibilities she had and forget whatever was waiting her in the confines of her attic. But she couldn't.

Summoning courage, she slipped into her dress and unlocked her phone. Despite the mid-afternoon hour, work loomed in a few, yet she had a window to return home and prepare. Gerome's persistent calls and numerous texts awaited her, expressing concern. Grinning mischievously, she crafted a reply: "I'm alive, a bit sore but fully alive. By the way, it was totally worth the wait." With a sly satisfaction, she hit send, anticipating Gerome's reaction when she later unfolded the story.

She put her shoes on, check the battery levels on the translator and took a deep steading breath. She reached the second door, the one that lead outside. She felt a bit of fear wondering what would be awaiting for her outside. Shaking her head she decided that whatever it was, she could handle it.

Surrounded by the vast expanse of the alien spaceship, she grasped its enormity when standing alone in its hallway. In stark contrast to Kaail's bedroom, the walls gleamed with a shiny metallic silver. Curiosity led her to touch a glowing red engraving on the wall, revealing a surprising warmth. The floor mirrored the metallic composition, prompting her to tread cautiously, reluctant to disturb the eerie silence. As she walked, minutes stretched into uncertainty, leaving her to ponder the seemingly endless expanse of this mysterious and unnerving hallway.

A little embarrassed she stopped mid-step, Taiga was lost. "Kaail" she called softly hoping he would hear. Unsure on how to proceed she hummed biting her lower nervously. She was in a turnabout, to her left, more silvery hallway, to her right, a dark storage room of some sort. How big was this fucking ship?

"Why are you dressed?" She heard at the same time she felt Kaail's arms snaking on her waist.

"I have to go home." She turned to face her Hunter. " I still have to work today."

"No you don't." He bent down, burying his face on her neck. " You are my mate. Provide for you is my duty."

She blushed. " That's sweet of you." She enlaced her arms on his neck. "But I still need to go."

He growled. " Do you doubt my capacity to provide for you, Mate?"

"No. That's is not what I've said." She was a bit confused on why he was getting so worked up.

"Then why do you want to leave?"  He had let her go and was now looking at her, standing tall.

With a plaintive whimper, she contemplated his words. "I don't want to go, but I must," she lamented, her hand reaching out to touch his chest. "I owe Derrick the courtesy of fulfilling my two weeks' notice." Seeing his puzzled expression, she elaborated, "Derrick is my boss, the owner of The Den. I can't simply vanish without explanation. He supported me when I needed it most. Please try to understand."

She could see the wheels turning in his head. " Fine." He dropped his shoulders. " But you are not going back to that house!"

Taiga thought for a second. "Deal. I just have to grab my stuff and say goodbye to my mother." She compromised.

Seemingly satisfied kaail scooped her up, walking back in the direction she just came. "You need to eat." He stated and she just nodded completely content at his arms.

Led into another room reminiscent of a kitchen, Kaail positioned her on the table instead of a chair. Observing him move to and from concealed compartments on the walls, she couldn't help but smile, recalling his discomfort with her dressed state while he remained in his armor. Taking a moment to absorb his presence, she etched into her memory the rhythmic contraction of his muscles with each motion, the uncanny silence that accompanied him, and the visible scars on his back, prompting a pang of empathy for the pain he must have endured.

Her focus shifted to his spines, as he had referred to them during their intimate moments, extending between his shoulder blades. Each adorned with one or more rings, she remembered the soft warmth they emitted when she held them in her hands. Blushing at the recollection of how he had explained their sensitivity, and how he enjoyed when she used it as leverage.

"I'm told that Oomans need intervals between vigorous mating. You will cease with this tempting of my control." Kaail's voice called her back to reality, he wasn't even looking at her.

"I'm not doing anything!" She was quickly to defend herself.

He turned to her and walked menacingly, lowering himself until they were eye to eye. "I can sense your desire for me, mate." This time she was one hundred percent sure Kaail was grinning.
