It's the second day in Paris and so far Fitz has been really really busy, so I've mostly just been by myself.
It was 6:30 now and Fitz had already finished another busy day with work. But we were now getting ready to go out on a date. I had asked him several times where we would be going, however he continued to claim it was a surprise.
We were both already ready and we put on smaller things before we headed out of the hotel.
"Okay once you're in the car, I want you to put on a blindfold." I raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"What?"
"Pleaseeee." I sighed and nodded.
"Fine." He smiled and kissed my cheek before a small black suburban car pulled up. The driver left the car and handed the keys to Fitz and he said a quick thank you to him before the driver left.
"You rented a car?" He nodded his head.
"Yup, it wouldn't be as romantic if we took a taxi, wouldn't it?" I giggled as he took my hand, guiding me to the passenger seat, opening the door for me. I sat inside the clean car and Fitz gently closed the door behind me before sitting in his own seat. Once we buckled our seatbelts I placed the blindfold on top of my eyes and Fitz started to drive.
"Fitz I don't like not seeing." I said.
"It'll make it more romantic and I have a plan, so don't worry." It was a silent and dark car ride and then I felt the car fully stop. I heard a seat belt unbuckle and the door open and close.
"Fitz?" I felt a small breeze to my right side and felt Fitz's arm. The seat belt wasn't wrapped around me anymore and Fitz grabbed my hand gently leading me out of the car. He closed the door and locked the car and started to lead me somewhere.
"Okay, I'm going to lead you through a flight of stairs, so don't step when I don't tell you too." Fitz said. And after a while of him guiding me up the flight of stairs we continued to walk. I heard an elevator ring and Fitz led me inside an elevator and he finally instructed me to take off my blindfold. I had no idea where I was, but at least Fitz had led me safely to wherever we are now.
"Where are we?" Fitz grinned.
"You'll see once we're at the very top." And soon the elevator doors opened. A gush of wind introduced us and we left the elevator and I gasped.
We were on top of the freaking Eiffel Tower.
"Oh my god Fitz, how in the world did you do this? This is amazing!" He smiled, taking my hand. He led me to the other side and I found a small table with two chairs and a picnic basket next to one of the chairs. Two candles sat on the table along with cups, plates, and flowers.
"Fitz, this is so wonderful, thank you so much!" I hugged him tightly and I felt him place a kiss on the top of my head.
"You deserve it. I know I've been busy the past few days, so you really deserve this." I kissed his cheek. He led me to the table and pulled out the chair. I smiled as I took a seat. He sat across from me and grabbed the food from the picnic basket placing it on the table and it was my favorite. Spaghetti and meatballs, along with a small salad, a glass of champagne, and even strawberries.
"This looks amazing."
"Bon appétit." He said, clinking our glass cups together.
We started to converse and eat while I was still processing how we were on the Eiffel Tower. But it made it even more romantic.
Once we finished dessert, which was a very delicious cut of chocolate cake.
Fitz took my hand, leading me to the side of the tower, hugging me from behind. I rested my head on his chest as we looked at the beautiful stars in the sky.
"I love you so much."I say.
"I love you so much too." He said. "Today is a very special night."
"It is, we're on top of the Eiffel Tower. This is amazing." Fitz chuckled and took my hands, so we were across from each other.
"That is true but I have something better in mind." I gasped as I saw him go down on one knee.
"Sophie Elizabeth Foster Ruewen, I knew the second I saw you, you had a kind and loving heart. And I already knew I loved you from that moment. And I was worried that I wasn't going to see you again. But I was so happy and lucky when you wanted to join my company. And I know that it wasn't just coincidental. It was fate. You're the best thing that has ever happened to me. You're strong, caring, kind, independent, intelligent, and so gorgeous. I love you to infinity and beyond, always and forever. Mon amour, will you do me the greatest honor of becoming my wife?" He opened the ring box, revealing the most gorgeous ring, a diamond in the middle of the silver band.
"Yes! Yes! A million times yes!" He slipped the ring on my left ring finger and stood up, kissing me. I wrapped my arms around his neck, his hands went to wrap around my waist. We stayed like that for who knows how long, smiling at the end. He rested his forehead on mine, hastily kissing me.
We stayed in each other's arms, smiles plastered on our faces.
"I hope this is what you had in mind for your dream proposal."
"It wasn't. It was much better." Fitz smiled, kissing my forehead.
I was engaged. To the man I love so much, Fitz Vacker.
