We're going side by side, I wanna go with you

-I am You, Stray Kids

Chaewon's eyelids fluttered shut as she embarked on an extended voyage through her dreams. She slumbered in profound silence, her visage mirroring the depth of her exhaustion, seemingly devoid of any will to persist. Attendants moved about her with delicate precision, tenderly dressing her injuries and administering salves to various areas of her frame. Yet, Chaewon remained ensconced in her prolonged repose.

For a moment, everything seemed fine. I was not greedy; I accepted what life imposed on me.

I wonder, where did things start to go wrong?

"You should be grateful for having me," Chaewon spoke to Hyunjin as she emerged from her car. With a smile, she waved goodbye and prepared to drive back to her home.

Her return journey was serene, navigating through the quiet streets of Seoul. At the crossroads, Chaewon watched the pedestrians while waiting for the green light, then proceeded with ease.

"I'm home, Maria!" she announced upon entering her house, her gentle smile lingering. As she spoke, the figure of an older woman materialized behind her, prompting Chaewon to glance back.

"Welcome home, Ma'am," Maria responded, approaching Chaewon briskly. Removing her coat, Chaewon returned the greeting and settled onto her bed. "How was your day, Ma'am?" Maria inquired as she began selecting clothes for Chaewon.

'"It was fun," Chaewon stated calmly as she focused on removing her bracelet. Maria glanced at her, observing the subtle smile on her face and her cheerful demeanor.

"Just fun?" Maria inquired, capturing Chaewon's attention. Initially baffled, Chaewon met Maria's gaze, but then realization dawned upon her regarding Maria's implication. "Well, it was nice," Chaewon paused, reminiscing about her time with Hyunjin. A gentle smile crept across her lips once more, and her eyes shone with a tender warmth brimming with unspoken feelings.

"It was pleasant and enjoyable, akin to a burst of crisp, refreshing air that I desperately needed," she expressed, her gaze fixed on the floor. Maria observed Chaewon with a smile, then approached and knelt before her. With her gaze intently on Chaewon's face, Maria tenderly stroked Chaewon's hair.

"I understand. I'm glad you had a delightful time," Maria responded, offering Chaewon a tender, maternal smile. Meeting Maria's eyes, Chaewon couldn't resist returning the smile. "Thank yo-"

Bang! Bang! Bang!"

The abrupt and forceful knocking on the door startled both Chaewon and Maria. Chaewon, bewildered, exchanged a confused glance with Maria. Rising to her feet, Maria approached the door.

"Who is it—"

"Open this door, IMMEDIATELY!"Chaewon's father's furious voice cut through before Maria could finish her inquiry. His impatient knocking indicated an urgency that wouldn't tolerate delay. Maria turned to Chaewon, her expression one of uncertainty, sensing an ominous prelude.

"Open it, Maria," Chaewon urged, her eyes meeting Maria's hesitant gaze. With a comforting smile, she conveyed reassurance; despite the unprecedented nature of the situation, she was determined to confront the cause of her father's wrath. "It's okay, open the door," she insisted, and Maria, bolstered by Chaewon's resolve, nodded in agreement.
