TO SAY THAT MIA WAS HIDNG IN THE KENNELS was an understatement.

They'd been chasing Archer's tail all day and she'd had the ever blessing of having to watch her sister converse with the bastard from afar. Sometimes, when Celaena gave her a smug smile when joining her on the freezing roof tops, she wondered if her announced death had been planned all along.

Her conversations with Nehemia...

Well, the princess had certainly stopped pulling her punches, her disgust and frustration with the twins becoming all too clear.  Mia supposed she could have gone to investigate the shadowed figure in the library but she much valued her life, thank you.

And her paintings were becoming more frustrating with every shade of blue she created.

So, there she was. In the kennels. Ignoring all her problems as her favorite hunting dog Willow licked her palm.

Some of the servants had advised her not to let the her out but one look into the poor girls eyes had her unlocking the grate. And if she gave the dog the rest of her biscuit, well, no one could prove it.

She'd just managed to teach Willow how to spin when she heard the haLl explode with barking and whining. She quickly scooped Willow up into her arms whispering, "We shan't tell a soul."

Willow yapped, not in understandment but in excitement as voices began to carry.

"You can't avoid him forever." Came Chaol's voice. "Maybe he's changed in the past few months—matured a little."

"You said that last summer, and I almost punched his teeth out," was Dorians reply.

"Thank the Wyrd my brother was always too afraid of me to talk back."

A loud sigh echoed off the walls as she quietly moved closer towards Willows kennel, "Remind me again why I'm going to this dinner tonight?"

"Because your father will kill you and me if you don't show up and formally greet your brother."

"Maybe he'd hire the twins to do it."

"They have dinner plans tonight. With Archer Finn."

That made her pause.

Spinning, she caught sight of the two men as they rounded the corner, not having looked up at her yet. With the fury of the Gods, she stormed towards them. "We do, do we?"

Chaol gave her a surprised frown, Dorians eyes widening as she came closer, Willows excited tail waggling, slapping her arm.

"I seem to be hearing things again."

"Celaena informed me earlier today. She didn't tell you?"

Mia glared at him, her face turning a deadly color. "Perhaps I'm so angry because I simply forgot."

Chaol gave an exasperated sigh to the ceiling.

"Where is she now?"

Dorian stepped forward, rubbing Willow's head before sliding an arm around Mia's waist. He didn't say a word about the released animal, though his brow rose as Willow licked his cheek.
