Michal
As I headed over the mountain top with Tara, the view of the city blanketed by snow was mesmerizing. Snuggled in the warmth of the car, Tara seemed to have forgotten about the troubles Scott had brought to her. I couldn't wait for his self-righteous self to return on Monday to confront him.
Tara's concern for my well-being prompted me to confess, "I feel like I don't deserve you. Hiding you is killing me because you deserve so much more than that. You deserve so much more than me having to lie just to spend time with you."
Her worried eyes locked with mine as she asked, "Why do I have a feeling you're giving up on us?" I shook my head, assuring her, "Never," as I pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead.
Time flew by when we were together, and before I knew it, it was already Monday. I wished Tara didn't have to go back to New Falls, as I had classes in the morning. Later, Dean invited me to lunch at a cozy restaurant named Jitters.
Upon arriving, I found Dean engrossed in conversation with a group of girls, sending them into a roar of laughter from whatever crap came out of his mouth. Trust Dean to find strangers and acquaint himself with them. When he saw me we found our table Scott's unexpected appearance ignited a spark of anger within me. I longed to confront him about what he had said to Tara, but I held back, not wanting to risk the truth coming out prematurely. When he left , Dean's sudden mention of Tara caught me off guard, "What's going on between you and the Duncan girl?" I hesitated, trying to downplay the situation. "Why do you ask?" I replied, subtly deflecting the conversation.
Dean probed further, noting the changes in our dynamic. I sighed, realizing Dean could never keep a secret. In high school I once told him coach Stevens smelt like garlic and might I add half of our class knew by the end of the school day, even the coach heard about it.
"Come on, you guys are hardly together and you got mad whenever I mention relationships. I did not want to say anything on the whatsapp group," he said.
"But you guys are just not the same anymore," he added and I sighed. Dean could not keep a secret. Telling him would probably be worse than lying because Stassie would hear about this and I wanted her to hear it from me.
"You're delusional," I retorted, focusing on the menu to avoid further discussion.
After lunch, I returned to our dorm to find Dana cooking dinner for Scott. As Dean left, I decided to address the tension with her.
"What, scared I might tell Stassie your secret?" She said, once she realised I wanted to say something, while chopping away the onions.
"No. I'm worried you might upset my girlfriend with the name-calling, Tara Larsson," I stated firmly, determined to defend Tara's honor.
When I said that she stopped focusing on the onions and looked at me with her mouth wide open.
"The nerve you have, Michal," she said
I shook my head, trying to convey my perspective. "No, the nerve you have judging her as if we planned this. I care about Stassie, and I never wanted to hurt her. You know damn well she and I weren't working out," I explained, hoping to make her see reason.
"So you cheated on her, that makes it right?"
Dana's accusations only deepened my resolve to protect Tara. "I'm not here to silence you, but insulting Tara is low. You have no right to make her feel like that," I asserted firmly,
"You know if memory serves me well when you met Scott he too was with someone else," when I said that she winced, defeated.
"I'm not here to silence you or anything because telling Stassie is my job. And insulting Tara isn't helping," I added before excusing myself as footsteps approached.
I couldn't let the drama affect my relationship with Tara. She deserved my unwavering support.
I have been super busy with a book project that I will be publishing on Amazon In November 2024 so i had temporarily abandoned this project but I promise to update daily again. Also there's going to be a much longer chapter after this one.
The Project I am working on is a fantasy book which I will call Project ABOF at the moment. It is a New Adult fantasy book/Urban Fantasy book with human-dragons, hunters and faes. It is like The Vampire Diaries but without the vampires and werewolves but with dragonborns (human and dragon mixed breed), hunters and faes instead. Or If Teen Wolf had dragons, faes and hunters instead of Werewolves, chimeras and Kanimas.
It has a romance subplot which actually drives the whole story. I eill be providing more information about that story later here on wattpad.
