Surviving Paris

Throughout the coming weeks, it became more and more apparent that Rory had become the favorite Gilmore girl. And after thinking about it for a while, I could see that. She went to Chilton, she was the good girl. Me? I couldn't get into that school even if I had tried. I was actually impressed.

There had been a big scandal last week at Chilton where Lorelai tried to break up with Mr. Medina, and Paris, Rory's nemesis saw them making out in his classroom. They had broken up for the time being, but I knew it wouldn't last long.

Now, Rory was getting ready to have her "friends", including Paris, over for studying. She was stressed out, to say the least. Not like it was her fault, though.

"Can you chill down?" I asked her, as she was tapping her foot on the floor.

"Sure," she said, lying across the couch and putting her feet up on my lap. "That good?"

I smiled sarcastically and continued to read my book.

"What snacks should I get you guys?" Lorelai asked, peeking her head out of the kitchen.

"I don't know. Study snacks," Rory answered.

"So, pop tarts, mini doughnuts, and popcorn?"

"Yep," Rory said as I added, "some for me too. I'm going to study with you."

"I don't think you want to do that," Rory warned.

I waved her away. "I'll be fine. I think I can handle Paris."

She looked at me in pure awe. "If that is so, teach me your ways!"

I flipped my hair and walked to the front door when I heard a car approach the house.

Paris and her two friends came to the door. I opened it. Paris looked me up and down.

"You look like Rory," she said, finally. I cocked my head.

"Well, identical twins are usually...identical..."

Paris was not amused by my little quip. She invited herself in, the girls followed.

"Hi, Paris," Rory greeted, her voice sounding cheerful, but her face cringing.

"Hello, Rory," Paris greeted back, taking out her books. Clearly, she wanted to get right to work.

"Hi Rory," said the two girls.

"Hi, Madeline. Hi, Louise." When Rory greeted Madeline and Louise, the vibe changed. I guess she's just hostile with Paris. I would be too. If I saw my arch nemesis every day, then she came to my house. Which in a way, was happening.

"So let's get down to it," Paris started.

"You couldn't make it through an hour, could you?" Lorelai asked as I sat myself down in the kitchen.

"Nope. Paris kept saying how me typing was distracting."

"Well, you tried—you got farther than I could do, that's for sure!"

"Ugh, I don't want to do work!" I whined, putting my head on the table.

"Well at least one of my daughters isn't a study nerd! Come with me to Luke's!"

I shook my head. "I have to work, my grade is down."

"Lorelai rolled her eyes. "Just when I thought you were cool."

Then, Rory walked in. "Well, after the talk about how you had us at 16 and the concert—," she started.

"What concert?" I asked.

"Oh! I forgot to tell you! I got Bangles tickets for the four of us tonight!" Lorelai said.

"Four of us?" I asked, taking a bite of a pop tart.

"You, me, Mom, Sookie," Rory said.

"Oh...tonight? And you forgot to tell me?" I asked.

Lorelai laughed. "Forgot or didn't want to."

"You're evil!" I gasped and Rory and Lorelai laughed like evil minions. When they were done, I turned to Rory.

"Are you making friends?" I asked. Rory shrugged.

"I think they want to be friends with me just to get to Dean. 6'2'' and feisty!" Rory teased.

I looked at my sister. Making friends didn't come as easy to her as it did to me, being in a private school and all—where no one really liked her.

"Hey, I have a thought," Lorelai said, taking pizza out of the oven. "Why not you take them to the concert with you two?"

I looked at Lorelai. Clearly, she just wanted us to be in pain.

"Uh, I mean, if Lucy wants to," Rory said.

I shrugged. "I don't think I'll go anyway. They can have my ticket."

"Why aren't you going?" Lorelai asked.

"I was going to hang out with Lisa  tonight, anyways. I've been kind of neglecting her. Can she come here?" I asked. Lorelai nodded her head.

"Sure. If you don't want to come, that's fine."

I nodded as Rory thanked Lorelai and ran off to tell the girls. I stood up.

"Let's go to Luke's now!"

"One moment, you're crabby and studying, the next moment you hungry," Lorelai sighed. "What am I going to do with you girls?"
