"Can you stop your tapping already?" I asked Lorelai.
"No can do," she replied, still tapping her pencil on her textbook. Rory's P.S.A.T. scores were coming in today. My mother and I were waiting for her, but she was late, making Lorelai late for her class at the college tonight and making Luke crazy every time she asked for one more cup of coffee.
"I got!" Rory came into the diner waving an envelope.
"Well, hurry up! Open it!" Lorelai gasped, finally stopping her incessant tapping. Rory ripped the envelope open as Lorelai quickly added, "Remember, these are only the P.S.A.T.s. Okay? So it's like baby gap, it doesn't count as much."
"Yeah, and you can take them again," I added.
Lorelai nodded and continued. "And you're young and have many years of learning ahead of you. Also the important thing is that you tried your best—."
"I got a 740 verbal and a 760 math," Rory announced, cutting off Lorelai's talking.
"Congratulation!" I said, giving Rory and small hug and our mother did the same. Rory didn't look very happy about it though.
"I got a 740 verbal and a 760 math?"
"What's wrong with that?" I asked. "Those sound like great scored to me."
"How did I score higher in math?"
I rolled my eyes. Of course she was looking past the fact that those were great scores and was looking into whats wrong with them.
"Who cares? Those are amazing scores!" Lorelai said. "They are P.S.A.T-rific!"
"Maybe I didn't study hard enough! Maybe I got cocky!" My sister, always jumping to conclusions.
"Maybe this year was just a good math year you," I shrugged. She glared at me. "What? I'm just saying that those are great scores and it doesn't matter which one you scored higher in as long as they are good."
Rory pouted and shrunk into her seat. "I guess."
As a way of celebrating, Lorelai was taking Rory, Lane, Lisa, and I to the Rocky Horror Picture Show and that was the end of the pouting.
My snowy morning started off calm, reading in bed, but something nice and calm is always ruined by Lorelai Gilmore falling through the porch.
"How did this happen?" I asked, as Rory and I followed our mother back into the house from inspecting the porch. Lisa was out with her parents who finally decided to care about her in her state of pregnancy. Great people.
Rory sighed. "This house is pretty old, I'm not surprised it's falling apart."
"This house is not old!" Lorelai gasped.
"Yes, it is. The wood is probably rotting," Rory points out.
'No, it's not! The wood is fine and will support us for a long time!" Lorelai put a couple pop tarts on a plate and joined Rory and me at the table.
"So you just weigh a lot?" I joked. Lorelai glared at me, before turning to the back door where Kirk was standing in some type of suit.
"So, I covered the whole house and I found the problem," he announced.
Lorelai took a bite from a pop tart. "What?"
"You have termites."
"WHAT?" The three of us asked at the same time.
"Yeah, tens of thousands of them."
"Gross," I comment, crinkling my nose. Termites...yay.
"Mom," Rory whined. "I don't want to have termites eating our house." She tugged on Lorelai's sleeve.
