Spoilers if you haven't watched the first episode of season 7 don't read
In the new episode chris tells buck he doesn't care if girls like him because they leave anyway.
He then tells him he can't remember his moms face and eddie hears it from the hall.
What if buck walked out and found eddie hugged him and began to comfort him
------------------------------------------------------------Buck had ended it with his girlfriend. Dating a death Dula was a lot even to bucks standards.
Buck figured after a month they would talk about other people's death or something but all she ever wanted to talk about was his death.
Buck tried to hold out but eventually just couldn't. He ended it with her and then eddie had asked someone out.
It made buck worried about his placement in their lives. One day Eddie had asked him to watch chris and didn't even really talk to him before he left for his date.
Since then it became usual. It had been a few weeks of these dates and tonight was no exception.
Buck was in and eddie was out as soon as buck had his shoes off.
Buck had smiled so he wouldn't worry chris. He started talking to Chris so he could distract himself.
They enjoyed their day playing video games and cooking. Later buck sits with chris since buck had been asked to talk to chris about something
"Hey buddy I heard you went to the movies with a girl the other day" he says and just got a hum
Buck knew he would shut down a bit but buck would still try.
"I also heard there was some other girls at school that you were talking to." Buck said and chris looked away.
"It's ok to like more then one girl but its not ok to let them all think they are special" he says and chris' face changes.
"Why does it matter?" Chris says making buck confused
"Why wouldn't it matter? Don't you want them to think your a good person?" He asks but chris just sighs
"They all leave anyway. Mom did" Buck frowned and sat by him.
"Chris your mom died." Buck tried but he shakes his head.
"Before that. She left us. We left her and she left anyway. I cant even remember what she looks like." chris says and begans to cry.
Buck comforts him tell he calms down. When buck leaves the room he comes face to face with eddie.
Eddie was crying and looked like shit. Buck understands that they both need comfort and takes Eddie's wrist leading him to the livingroom
They sit and eddie cries. He wisperes little truths into bucks ear and buck reassures him on every one.
When eddie is calm buck pulls away letting eddie sit up on his own.
"The letter Shannon wrote." Buck starts slow and soft
Eddie looks suprised he is bringing it up but nods.
"What about it?" He asks and buck smiles slightly
"You should give it to chris. He is hurting and is old enough to understand its words. I think it'll help you let go too" Buck says and gets up to get his things.
He was getting ready to leave just as he had so many times over the last few weeks.
He missed sleepovers but it seemed he wasn't welcome to them anymore so he stopped trying.
First he tried but eddie said he had been to busy to clean which was wierd by itself.
Then he tried but found out she was coming over. Ever since he stopped trying.
As he goes to get his shoes eddie grabs his arm. Buck looks at eddie with hope in his eyes but also doesn't want to let himself believe tell he is sure.
"Uh I... you can stay if you want." Eddie says and buck's heart jumps.
He tells himself it doesn't mean anything but he smiles.
"Ok." They go back to the livingroom.
Buck sheads all of his things in the same place he grabbed them from.
When they are sitting on the couch eddie stays silent for a moment before speaking.
"You don't need to be babysitting anymore." Eddie says and buck feels his heart sink.
Buck thought it was because she had already met Chris, now they would start to hang out here with chris.
Buck catches himself looking towards chris' room.
"Oh?" Is all that he can get out.
"I realized it's not what I want. It was nice going to the fighting ring with her and the dates weren't horrible but it's just not what I want." Eddie explains
Buck looks confused and rised an eyebrow.
"Not what you want?" Buck says and eddie sighed.
"The thought of showing her where everything goes and eventually making space here for her made me realize it's not what I wanted" eddie says and buck's heart fluttered.
He wanted to say I know those thing. I organized the kitchen. I help with homework, I have a drawer in your room full of closed just for me but knew he couldn't.
"Then I got home and everything happened. I realized what I was looking for had been here the whole time. " Eddie says looking at buck.
"Eddie" buck says but eddie cups his face with one hand and leans in to kiss him.
"Can i?" Eddie says his nervousness showing slightly.
Instead of answering buck just kisses him. They kiss for a few moment before buck pushes against Eddie's chest.
"As much as I love this and want to talk about this our son needs you and that letter right now" Buck says after eddie pulled away.
Eddie stands awe struck at him saying our son but eventually does go. He talks to chris and leaves the letter on the table.
He goes back to buck and they talk. Buck cooks dinner and when its done eddie goes back to find the photo of his mom that chris had put face down was back up.
Eddie smiled glad it helped.
"Hey dinner is done. Buck made pizza" he says and chris looks at him
"Ok dad I'll be right there" he says and eddie smiles
Eddie leaves feeling better and goes to buck kissing him. They needed to talk more but right now they were happy to just eat pizza and enjoy their night.
