That night, they met up at the stairs that led to the dorms. Harry had his and his sister’s Invisibility Cloak tucked in his arm. They had received it during Christmas from . . . . someone. They didn’t exactly know who the cloak was from. But it was dead useful.
“Are we all ready?” said Harry.
“As ready as I’ll ever be,” Sera answered under her breath.
“Great. Let’s go.”
They began to move only to be stopped by a loud croaking noise. Ron groaned quietly.
“Trevor. Trevor, shh! Go away, you shouldn’t be here!”
The pale face of Neville Longbottom appeared from behind the large high-backed chair.
“And neither should any of you.” He got to his feet, his fists clenched as he stared from one guilty face to another. “The five of you are sneaking out again, aren’t you?”
“Now Neville,” said Sera as she tried to keep her voice steady. “You must listen to why we’re sneaking out. If you listen, you’ll understand why —”
“No!” said Neville furiously as he raised his fists to a fight. “I won’t let you! You’ll get Gryffindor into trouble again! I-I’ll fight you!” He tried to threaten.
Hermione sighed with exasperation and drew out her wand.
“Neville, I’m really sorry about this. Petrificus Totallis!”
At once, Neville’s arms and legs snapped together before falling on his back like a board of wood. Hermione sighed and stowed her wand back in her wand pocket.
“You’re scary sometimes. You know that, right?” said Ron nervously. He shuddered. “Brilliant, but scary.”
“We should go,” said Harry.
As they stepped over Neville and muttering quite a few apologies to the frozen boy, Sera stopped, staring pityingly at the boy.
“I’m sorry, Neville,” she apologized. “You know Hermione didn’t want to do that, but we had no other choice. But when w come back, we’ll tell you exactly why we had to freeze you. I'm sure you'll understand.”
She patted Neville’s cold shoulder in a comforting manner before following Ron, Hermione, Harry, and Dante out of the Gryffindor common room. Harry slipped the cloak over all five of them. Sera was in the lead. The only time she stopped guiding them was when Ron accidentally stood on her foot. She winced.
“Ouch, Ronald! That was my foot!”
“Sorry,” Ron grumbled in return.
They got to the door. Sera took out her wand, pointing it at the lock.
“Alohomora!”
The lock clicked open and they slipped inside. Sera could hear a harp playing music in the background and the sound of three dogs snoring loudly. Harry voiced her thoughts.
“Wait a minute, it’s — it's already sleeping. Snape’s already been through the trap door.” He paused as they continued to eye the three-headed dog in front of them. Harry finally sucked in his breath, readying himself. “We’ve got to move its paw!”
“What?!” said Ron, whose voice had gone twice as high.
“You heard my brother, you idiot. If we want to get past that dog, we have to move its paw to get to the trap door.”
“I’m not putting my hands anywhere near that thing!” Ron answered stubbornly. He crossed his arms over his chest, glaring at the girl in front of him.
