They shot out of the object, landing flat on their backs.
"Curiosity can be somewhat of a dangerous thing, Seraphina and Harry," Professor Dumbledore advised. The duo scrambled to their feet, unsure of how to respond. Professor Dumbledore continued talking. "It's a Pensieve. It allows you to see the memories that you once lost in order to gain some answers."
"Sir? Mr. Crouch's son? What exactly happened to him?" Harry asked at once.
"He was sentenced to Azkaban," Professor Dumbledore answered, avoiding all eye contact with the twins. "Destroyed Barty to do it. But he had no choice, the evidence was overwhelming." He turned to them again with his eyebrows furrowed. "Why do you ask?"
"Because I . . . . I had a dream about him," Harry answered, ignoring his sister's quizzical looks.
"And Dante told me that his father and his friend were both killed for trying to figure out Lord Voldemort's secret. But he never told me who killed him. Perhaps he was too young and didn't know the answer. But I've always wondered who killed his dad."
"Is it always the same dream?" Professor Dumbledore asked Harry urgently.
"Yes. Always the same one. Professor, these dreams. You don't think that they're actually happening, do you?"
Professor Dumbledore turned to face Harry again. "I think that it's unwise to dwell upon these dreams, Harry. If I were you, I would simply just . . . . cast them away."
Harry nodded. He grabbed his sister's hand dragged her back out of Professor Dumbledore's office.
"Why didn't you tell me you were having these dreams, Harry?" Sera insisted. "I could have tried to help you in some way!"
"You already have things to worry about, sis. I'm not going to let my problems bother you."
"But I'm your older sister. Of course I need to help with whatever is bothering you!"
Harry gave her a tight smile. "Always trying to look out for me, aren't you?"
Sera rolled her eyes. "Of course I'll always look out for you. You're my brother, and in more danger than I am. If anything like this happens again, tell me, and we'll try to figure things out. Together."
He knew that his sister was right. Twins do work together in one way or another. She'd always been there for him, and he for her.
"It's a sign, Severus," said Igor Karkaroff's voice from nearby. "You know what it means, as well as I!"
A door on their left swung open, revealing Professor Snape and Igor Karkaroff. Their reactions to the twins standing there seemed to be a bit delayed. Sera's eyes strayed over towards Igor Karkaroff's arm. She immediately saw the Dark Mark, branded in his flesh.
Both men turned to face the twins. Igor Karkaroff's face turned purple and he tried to hastily yank down his sleeve. He then acted as though he never noticed the twins. He shoved past them, rounding the corner. Sera was about to follow after him, only to be stopped by Professor Snape.
"Potters! What's your hurry?" They reluctantly stayed put. "Congratulations, Mr. Potter. Your performance in the Black Lake was inspiring. Gillyweed. Am I correct?"
"Yes, sir," Harry answered honestly.
A sneer curled on Professor Snape's lips as he went back inside the potions storage room. "Ingenious. A rather rare herb, Gillyweed. Not something that's found in your every day garden. Nor is this." He jumped down from his ladder and got up in the twin's faces again. Sera's eyes narrowed. He held up a glass vial full of clear liquid. "Know what this is?"
