"— No permission form signed, no visiting the village," said Professor McGonagall solemnly. "That's my final rule, Potter."

"But, Professor! I thought that if you could sign —" Harry insisted.

"I can't. Only a parent or a guardian can sign it. Since I am neither, it would be considered inappropriate!" Harry sighed in defeat. Even Professor McGonagall seemed to feel bad for him. She put a hand on his shoulder, giving him a sympathetic smile. "I'm sorry, Potter. That's my final word."

She walked away. The only students left were Seraphina, Ron, Hermione, and Dante. Harry turned to face them with a bitter look.

"It's fine, guys. I'll see you later."

While Sera knew that their trip to Hogsmeade Village should be full of fun, Sera felt horribly guilty that Harry couldn't come. She spent the entire trip moping around. She tried to have fun like the rest of her friends were, but all of her thoughts were on her brother.

"C'mon," Ron tried to encourage her. "Maybe Harry will be able to go with us next year."

"Maybe?" Sera echoed, raising an eyebrow. "Yeah, it's very unlikely that Harry will ever have his permission slip signed for Hogsmeade, at all."

"Well, you can't be moping around all day, Sera," Dante insisted, throwing an arm around her shoulder, catching her by surprise. She couldn't help but blush at how close they were now. Her heart began to race as she stared into Dante's stunning blue eyes. Her breath caught in her throat. "Does anyone fancy going to get some Butterbeer?"

It was a relief for Sera when they entered the castle once more. The warm glow from the lit torches gave her a sense of comfort.

They reached Harry, who had been hanging out with Professor Lupin the entire time they were gone. Sera felt a little better. At least he had someone to go to when the rest of his friends, and his own sister, weren't there to support him.

Ron handed him a big bag of goodies that she and her friends had collected for him in Zonko's Joke Shop and Honeyduke's Sweet Shop. Then they hurried up the stairs so that they could get to the Gryffindor common room and call it a day. In the meanwhile, Ron gushed to Harry about how amazing Hogsmeade was.

"Honeyduke's Sweet Shop was amazing! But nothing can beat Zonko's Joke Shop." He had a hint of disappointment in his voice when he mentioned the Shrieking Shack. "But we never did get the chance to visit the Shrieking Shack. You've heard that it's —"

"The most haunted building in Britain," Harry interrupted, sounding bored. "Yeah, I know."

They stopped at the stairs that led to the Gryffindor common room. Sera furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.

"What's going on? Why aren't we going into the dorm?"

"Maybe Neville's forgot the password again," Ron whined.

"Hey!" said Neville, who sounded highly offended. Sera didn't blame him. "I'm over here, you idiot!"

Ron looked surprised before apologizing. "Oh! You're there! Sorry."

In the meanwhile, Percy Weasley was noisily bossing everyone around. Sera became more and more impatient.

"What's going on?"

Finally, Ginny answered her question. She turned to face them, her face pale.

"The Fat Lady — she's gone!"

The students moved around enough so that they could see the torn, slashed portrait that had been her home. Sera gasped, her eyes growing wide. Ron only scoffed.
