The First Task

Sera and her brother walked through the courtyard together. Everywhere they walked, people were wearing "Cedric rules" badges which would then turn into "Potter stinks". And Sera just about had enough of their crappy behavior.

"Like the badge?" Ernie McMillan teased, flashing the badge in her brother's face.

"Excuse me," said Harry. He tried to be polite. But, like his sister, he, too, had enough of their crap. In the end, he shoved past them with his sister trailing behind slightly. They approached Cedric and his friends, all of whom were fawning over him. They noticed Harry and began flashing the badges in his face again.

"Read the badges, Potter!" one Hufflepuff taunted.

Harry ignored them. "Can I have a word?" he asked Cedric.

Cedric shrugged.

"Alright," he answered.

"You stink, Potter!" one of his Hufflepuff friends called.

Sera stood a little ways away from the duo, keeping an eye out for anyone who were eavesdropping on them.

"Dragons. That's the first task. They've got one for each of us."

"Are — Are you serious?"

"Yes."

"And Fleur and Krum. Do they —"

"I wouldn't be surprised if they knew as well. Their headmasters must have told Krum and Fleur."

"C'mon, Ced!" one of his Hufflepuff friends complained, clearly upset that he was taking the time to talk to Harry.

"Yeah, leave him! He's not worth it!"

"Right," said Cedric bitterly. Harry began to walk away with Sera about to follow. But they were stopped by Cedric again. "Hey, listen. About the badges. I've asked them to not wear them, but —"

"Don't worry about it," Harry answered bitterly.

Sera caught up with her brother, alarmed.

"Don't worry about it? Harry, you literally shoved Ernie and Hannah out of the way when they were showing you their badges!"

"That was different," Harry answered shortly.

His eyes suddenly landed on Ron, who was walking on the other side of the courtyard, talking to Seamus Finnegan.

"— You have to admit, though. The fire's pretty fascinating."

"You're a right, foul git. You know that, right?" said Harry as he got up into his ex best friend's face.

"You think so?" Ron scoffed.

"I know so," Harry answered stubbornly.

"Okay. Anything else?"

"Yeah! Stay away from me and Sera!"

"Fine."

Ron shoved past Harry. The duo was about to walk away when a new but familiar voice stopped them. Their voice came from the trees.

"Why so tense, Potter? My father and I had a bet, you see? I don't think that you're going to last about ten minutes in this tournament." He jumped from the tree. "He disagrees. He thinks that you won't last about, let's say, five. What are you going to do when your brother dies, Potter? Are you going to cry over his dead body?"

Sera's face went pale, though she could feel it burning at the same time. Anger coursed through her veins at his taunts. But before she could react, her brother came to her defense.
