55.- Management

The days passed while the blue fox seemed to be able to recover his morale with the help of his companions. While it seemed like he felt fine on the outside, inside he felt pain from the wolf's departure. That scar still lasted and hurt him when his thoughts went about him. He had to suppress them if he wanted to continue doing his job as he knows, since it was his turn to go back to work today without Nick nor Judy.

Vol got out of bed and made his breakfast, along with getting dressed while Nick and Judy were still asleep. This time he decided to do both things together: Get dressed and have breakfast, and he didn't adapt at all badly, thus saving time. It was something new, but it wouldn't hurt to try different things.

He finished his breakfast and got completely dressed when Judy appeared, yawning.

"Your turn to go?"

Vol nodded. "That's right, it'll be my shift without you." He smiled a little. "I guess you'll have a good time without me for a few days."

"Are you sure you'll be okay?" Judy's question surprised him, but when he looked into her eyes he saw why: She was worried about his emotional state.

"Don't worry, I feel fine, if I need something I can always call you." He showed a smile to reassure his companion.

Even just a little, Judy calmed down. "Okay. Don't hesitate to call us if something happens or you feel bad."

The fox nodded, took his things and headed to the door. "That's for sure." Before leaving, he flashed a smile at a still slightly worried rabbit. Judy realized there was little she could do now, so she left to resume sleep.

Everyone was waiting in the mission room for Chief Bogo to appear for the assignments. The larger mammals were having an arm wrestling, Wolford, Snarlov and Higgins were talking about their topics. Vol was simply sitting, looking at the table. He had no one to talk to for a few days while they assigned missions. He looked around but no one was looking at him, everyone was up to their business and games. He didn't blame them, why should they divert attention to him? Then Higgins went next to where Bogo performs.

"Atten-hut!"

The screams and banging on the table continued when Bogo showed up, this time in a very bad mood, to which they slowed down the pace of the screams. If the buffalo was in a worse mood than usual, it wasn't a good sign, so the rest of the officers stood at attention waiting for what the chief had to say. Some of their bodies were already beginning to shake.

"I'll be brief and direct: The police action a few days ago regarding the arrest of Gloria Clinton left much to be desired. You couldn't arrest her and you couldn't stop her in any way possible." Clearly, his tone of voice was loud and angry. "So I am forced to do special intensive training to improve your upcoming police performances." Some moaning was heard in the background. "Everyone without exception must do it, it doesn't exempt anyone, it doesn't matter if it was the defendant at the Court..." He looked slightly at Vol, who raised his ears. "...or witness. So whoever isn't here today, I'd appreciate it if someone close to them informed them so that they can come prepared. These trainings will be done on different days and alternating officers, so you'll continue doing your missions and training." Then, Bogo grabbed some documents. "Now, I'll give you the assignments."

This time, Vol had to do paperwork. He mostly had to fill out documents about previous actions, both from other police officers and some of his own that weren't filled out. It was hard work, but he had to deal with it, this time, alone.

He decided not to waste any more time going to the computer room to do the work he had to do. When he turned on one of them, he typed in the password and opened the documents to fill out. As he was passing through documents, he saw words that reminded him of someone.
