"You might like this, partner." She showed a small smile. "I'm sure."
Vol stepped closer and looked at his companion straight into her eyes. "What is it about?"
"While I was coming back, I found out that we're going to have fireworks tonight, celebrating that terrorism is over and peace is back. It can help distract you, what do you say?" The bunny had the best of intentions.
"Uhm... I really appreciate that you thought of me for this," he scratched the back of his head, "but I really want to have everything safe by tomorrow. After that, I'll be calmer for sure. I don't want to leave any loose ends, Judy, I might regret it."
His partner saw how downcast he was and she proceeded to comfort him. "It's okay, you're right and that's why I won't force you to go. Still, we'll go. If you need any kind of help when we're there, just text or call us, okay?" The blue fox nodded and sighed, to which Judy responded by putting her paw on the vulpine's shoulder. "Don't worry, I understand that you reject the offer, this is very important for you."
Vol's face lit up when he felt her support. "Thank you for being so understanding and thanks for the offer." He smiled again.
Nick appeared with his typical smile and looking around. "Well, are you done, Carrots? So we can get out a little earlier."
Judy turned to him. "You never get into the situation, you damned fox." She also put a smile on her face.
"What am I going to do if you are always with your feelings coming out?" Nick shrugged jokingly.
Vol proceeded to speak. "Okay, I'll wait for you at the apartment, I'm going to prepare some things." He smiled and said goodbye to them.
After that, Nick turned to Judy. "Let's see if I guess it: You're going to make me go see the fireworks, aren't you?" The rabbit nodded effusively. "What a way to drag me into this."
"Come on, I know you enjoy it, why not go with someone you appreciate?" Judy was now having fun making the fox go with her.
"Do I appreciate you? Yes, yes I do." Nick looked up with his typical narrowed look. "Let's talk to Ryan for a bit and head back to the apartment."
As they finished talking, they went to the room where the marsupial was to let time pass and thus arrive at the appropriate time.
On the other hand, Vol began to prepare dinner while he continued with his case and gathering what he could to defend himself in the trial that awaited him. He cooked with the food that he had at paw, having a better result than might be expected and, after finishing, he decided to wait for both owners to start with the last meal of the day. He sat down again, thinking of more topics to discuss in that place where he didn't really want to go, but he had to do it for everyone he loved.
Even so, he didn't find much with which to defend himself, he felt that something was slipping through his fingers and he didn't know what it was. "Let's see, what's wrong with me here?" The blue fox was thinking and thinking about it while he tried to figure out the problem that arose at that moment. He left the pen with which he wrote for a moment leaning on the table. "Let's see..." He mumbled a few words. "Yeah, that's fine. Also..." He kept muttering, but stopped for a moment. "Right here... But what can I say? What can I change?" He crossed his arms and closed his eyes, thinking.
In the midst of the bluish vulpine's meditation, Nick and Judy walked in, opening the door as they were talking to each other.
"Then I gave him the solution and told him: 'I know you know it perfectly well, didn't you see how easy it was?' He had a confused face after all that." Nick commented with a triumphant smile, it seemed that his trick worked on a partner.
