At the base of 'Only preys' were a female brown hare, Coleman the hedgehog, and a male antelope, denoting a certain age, talking to each other. They seemed a little pissed off about what had happened that past day.
"I can't believe they let them get away so easily. I thought they'd finish them off, but they're more useless than I thought." Coleman spoke. He always had a grumpy face.
"Hey, didn't you work with Paul in the past? I thought you liked him." The hare commented. She had slightly long black hair.
Coleman turned his head to look at the hare. "Brega, no matter how much I worked with him, it doesn't mean I like him. He's useless."
Brega laughed. "You're right about that. We should have been the ones to silence those nosy cops at once."
The antelope took a step forward. "As much as it's a pain for us to work with useless preys, we have to achieve the common good. Now the question is, what will be done?"
"Don't worry, Axel, the boss has a plan after this." Coleman smiled wickedly. Only the boss they mentioned would know what was going to happen...
After the fight they had that Tuesday, some days passed in which they were investigating who the attackers were, possibly easy to identify by their outward appearance. They didn't seem to find anything, as the appearances didn't match what the cops saw. They arranged interviews with many capybaras, many beavers and many other rabbits with zero results, which caused them to run out of ideas to continue. They tried to review the case in the computers' room.
"We tried everything but we found no answers, no matches, and no clues." The bunny sighed hopelessly.
"The most we got was that the blood on the wall was from a fight they had, but there's no further evidence that Paul the beaver killed the alpaca. There were no remains of him." Vol said, also frustrated at not finding anything.
"We have gone over and over the evidence, coincidences and so on. Something is beyond our comprehension." Nick tried to analyze the case in his head.
"We have the spine but it doesn't reveal anything... We have a lot of evidence..." The bluish fox sighed. "Only one idea occurs to me: Offer one of us as a decoy so we can catch one of the terrorists and interrogate them." They both looked at him.
"We won't, Vol, that's too crazy and we don't know what they're capable of." Concerned, Judy affirmed. "We'll find another solution, we just have to think."
Vol sighed again and Nick spoke. "I guess we won't solve anything here. I suggest we release some of the tension and go to a bar to freshen up." He smiled.
Judy shrugged and shook her head from side to side. "You're hopeless." She let out a laugh.
Nick crouched down at his companion's head's level. "You love my suggestions, but you don't want to accept that fact." He had the half-closed-eyed look he was so good at.
Judy avoided looking at him to play along. "Pfft. Whatever you say! Let's clear our minds." She got down from the chair.
Vol laughed after what he saw. "You love each other very much, you can't deny it."
"Shut it!" They both answered in unison, but it only made the blue fox laugh more.
After going out of the room, they saw how many colleagues went to a television. In the confusion, the trio headed where they all were going, finding to their surprise a strange character on the screen in a dark suit, completely covering him up, exactly like the assailants who attacked the trio. At the time of speaking, his voice was distorted, but he took the camera that was focused on the zebra reporter at that moment.
