Sunlight was blinding me as I opened my eyes. I gasped, sitting up in the unfamiliar bed I was in. Everything hadn't been right...no....nothing like that would've happened.

"Keona, you're awake," Gideon stood up from sitting on a couch in the corner of the room.

"What am I doing here?" I growled. "You, you betrayed us!"

"What are you talking about?" Gideon stopped a short distance away.

"I remember...." I got up and went to push Gideon.

Glowing white bars appeared as I reached my hand out and burned me. Holding my arm against my chest, I clenched my teeth.

"Ow!"

"Make yourself comfortable," Gideon narrowed his eyes slightly. "You may be here a while."

And with that, Gideon turned to leave the room, the automatic doors shutting behind him. Looking around, I saw I was in some sort of room.

A prison...of some sort.

Three Hours Earlier

"Keona," Mitchell peeked his head in the doorway.

"What?" I turned from looking out over my balcony.

"Ilona wants to speak to us."

Furrowing my eyebrows, I went to the doorway and looked to see if anyone was near.

"Where's Gideon?" I questioned.

"We'll get him on the way," Mitchell seemed to promise.

"Why does this seem so secretive?" I began walking briskly alongside Mitchell.

"I don't know. Ilona didn't say much except that it was important," Mitchell breathed.

Gideon was walking alongside Irons when I spotted him. Mitchell cursed under his breath.

"Keona, my dear," Irons grabbed both of my arms. "I felt like I haven't seen you in forever."

"That's because you kicked me out," I grumbled.

"Why don't we put that bad blood behind us? You're like a daughter to me and I need you," Irons seemed to be acting surprisingly nice. "Let's take a walk, shall we?"

Glancing at Gideon and Mitchell, I slowly started walking next Irons. The two soldiers looked after me and I waved them off. Mitchell could radio me and tell what was so important.

"We've never had a father, daughter-in-law conversation before, have we?" Irons walked next to me, his hands behind his back.

"No, why are you wanting to now?" I narrowed my eyes.

We came to balcony that gave a large view of the Atlas base and of what everyone was doing. Irons stood straight up but I leaned my elbows on the edge of the balcony railing.

"Will may not have told you, but he hated this place," Irons was looking out across the base. "He hated me for creating it."

"That's why he served for America," I added, nodding.

"I made this to protect him from America's military and their horrible way of putting every soldier in danger. Here, our technology is so ahead, no soldier can die without be extremely stupid. I wanted to protect him and anyone he loved."

"Me," I whispered, realizing Irons' words.

"I would've done anything to keep you together. He loved you so much, Keona," Irons turned towards me.
