WANGJI'S POV
Seating here during this so called meeting is very torturous at least for me as it seems like the others are kind of enjoying it. I sighed trying to ignore the anger building up in me as much as possible though I know deep within me that I’m doing a terrible job as it will be shown clearly on my face with how annoyed I am right now but still, I try to smile a little. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not angry because of the meeting, it just that, this Johnson Menk dude is really getting on my nerves right now that all I could do is clenching my hand into a fist and ignoring his teasing looks. Who does he think he is? Flirting openly with Zhan, and smirking at my direction? *scoff* If only I came in earlier, I bet that seat he’s currently sitting on would be taken by me but seems like luck was on his side. What made me more angry was that Zhan wasn’t showing any effort in stopping him either.
‘Why am I even angry? It’s not as if he’s mine anyway ‘yet' I said in my thoughts.
Trying to ignore the torture opposite me, I tried focusing more on the meeting which was extremely impossible, but I was still able to get through it and the meeting eventually came to an end. The boardroom was getting vacated when I was about approaching Zhan but was held back by my arm. Turning to the person who happened to be Ziyi, I probe
“yes Mrs Ziyi?”
“oh Wangji, just wanna tell you that you’ll be having a training with the advert team by noon so be prepared.” She says
“Oh. Okay.” I said and she nods walking away. I couldn’t help but sigh. Here I thought I’ll be going to the party with Zhan to spend more time with him but seems that’s not the case. Looking back at Zhan who was still speaking with Johnson, I walked out of the boardroom.
The end of day was fun and abit tiring though. The advert team were very nice and understanding that I didn’t had a hard time with them. Mr Cheng made sure I know everything I need to know concerning their field of work. Mr Cheng is actually an angry bird if I’m being honest but he’s very nice as well and I also figured he has a sweet side for people who are close to him. I’ll be having a second training with them the following week but all in all, I really enjoyed my first. My training tomorrow will be with the designing team so all I could hope for is a successful training as this though I know it’s not possible as there’s a pain in the neck who is actually waiting for every opportunity to break me but i won’t let that happen. I’m not going to allow it.
Glancing at my wristwatch while resting on my car, I saw it’s already 9pm. It was abit cold out here as winter is fast approaching. I’ve been out here for thirty minutes now waiting to take Zhan home as he didn’t come with his car. I wasn’t able to spend more time with him but at least we cooked and ate together this morning so that counts as something right? I take out my cell to scroll through the internet when I felt someone standing next to me. Raising my head, I smiled upon seeing who it was.
“good evening Zhan.” I said immediately slipping my phone into my pants pocket.
“good evening. How was your training today?” he asked as I takes his work bag from him and an extra bag.
“it was very much okay and you...how was work?” I asked and he hum as a reply.
Opening the door for him as he walked closer to the car, he frowned, stopping on his tracks and giving me a displeased look.
“You shouldn’t be doing something like this. You’re my secretary not driver okay?” Zhan says raising his brows.
“ohh but.. I want to do it for you so…”
“but I’m not comfortable with you doing it and besides you’re older so please don’t do it again.” He said sternly and I couldn’t help but comply to his request.
We both got into the car and I brought it to life driving out towards the peaceful night city. It was a quiet drive with the faint romantic song playing from the radio which added to the peaceful night. Zhan was looking out the window to the city with a barely noticeable smile and I couldn’t helping glancing at him through the side mirror. I was thinking hard on what I was going to say cuz I wanted to start a conversation with him as this is amongst the little time I’m able to spend with a busy man like him, but the grumble from his stomach made me pulse my lips hard trying to stop the chuckle that almost escaped when I saw him glance at me with an embarrassed look trying to act normal like nothing happened and I asked when I saw him yawning lightly.
“you hungry?” he gave me a surprise look but still answered anyway.
“Abit but it’s o-okay.” He said fondling with his blazer.
“didn’t sounded like abit to me. How about eating dinner before taking you back home?” I asked internally begging him to agree.
“I-I don’t want to hold you back.”
“you aren’t. I assure you that.”
‘you’re actually doing me a favor right now.’ I thought.
“okay. If it’s fine then.”
“So where do you want to dine?”
“you choose.”
“i-I don’t know that much fancy restaurants in town and I also don’t know what would be your preference so…”
“anything is fine by me….and I’d rather have a simple dinner tonight.”
“Okay. I know a good place in town but it’s a middle class restaurant if that’s okay with you?” I probe.
“Y-yeah yeah it’s fine by me.” He said stuttering abit which brought a smile to my face.
I shook my head at his cuteness and changes out route heading to the nearest restaurant I’m quite familiar with.
The door bell jingled when we both got into the restaurant when I heard a small familiar voice calling out my name and the small solliquet runs towards me and wrapping his hands on my legs.
“Gege!” he called out happily and I smiled and takes him in my arms.
“How are you my little champ.” I said pinching him teasingly on his cheeks to which he giggled.
“I’m fine ge. I’ve missed you.”
“aww. So sorry. I’ve not been free quite lately so I couldn’t visit but don’t worry, I promise you I’ll try to visit frequently okay?”
“okay.” He said and looks at Zhan who was standing beside me with curious look on his face.
“hello pretty gege. My name is Jingyi and I’m four years old what’s yours?” Jingyi said tilting his head slightly to the side.
Zhan was kind of nervous but replied anyway.
“h-hi I’m Zhan.” Zhan said slightly glancing at me and Jingyi smiles secretly while he whispers to me.
“gege. I think he’s shy.” I chuckled.
“Of course he is. It’s his first time anyway.” I said smiling at Zhan who was looking round the restaurant.
“what about your mom?”
“she’s in the kitchen and aunty is..” he turns slightly and points with his tiny finger.
“rrrigght there.” Jingyi said giggling.
“Okay.” I said and turns towards Zhan.
“Let’s go?”
“o-okay.”
“There’s no need to be nervous. It’s just like any other restaurants out there.” I said assuringly as we approached the counter where a young beautiful lady stood.
“Good evening.” I greeted.
“Ahh! Wangji! How are you? It’s been a while dear.”
“I’m fine jie. How’s Mr Su She?”
“he’s fine.” She says and looks over at Zhan. Her eyes widened abit and she moved closer to my end whispering to me
“New boyfriend?” she asked and I almost chocked and Jingyi patted my back a little letting out small giggles. I glared at her a little while she winked at me. Standing in front of Zhan, she said in the sweetest voice she can moster and I scoffed inwardly
“hello pretty, my name’s Jia Su and you?” Zhan was about answering when Jingyi did on his stead.
“his name’s pretty Zhan and he’s very shy.”
“Jingyi! Don’t interrupt when adults are talking. I’ve told you that before right?” aunty suddenly scolded walking towards us from the kitchen and holding a tray of pancakes which Jie ran to help her with.
“sorry mom.” Jingyi said feigning sadness.
“Hello aunty.”
“hi my boy.” She says patting my hair.
“how have you been?”
“I’ve been good aunty.”
“of course you have. Jingyi has been throwing a lot of tantrums because you haven’t visited lately so I guessed you’ve been busy.”
“yes aunty but don’t worry I’ll visit frequently from now on.”
“yes, please do. You know when the Wangs strikes, no one would be able to stop them.” She said glancing a little at jingyi who giggles and hugged me tightly with his little hands wrapped around my neck.
Aunty shakes her head and looks over at Zhan who had been nervously and quietly standing next to me.
“He’s cute. New boyfriend?” I looked sharply at aunty when I heard Zhan gasp a little.
“No aunty. H-he’s my boss.” I said and aunty's eyes widened a little.
“oh my. I’m so sorry. I didn’t…”
“i-it's okay ma. I’m fine actually.” Zhan says.
“no need to call me ma. As Wangji always said, I’m the prettiest woman in the whole world so..call me Mrs Wang instead. It makes me look younger okay?” she said flattering her eyes at Zhan and winking which made Zhan blush.
“ewww” Jingyi exclaimed.
“you brat.” Aunty glared at him and I chuckled.
‘This mother and son never change.’
“yes Mrs Wang. My name’s Zhan by the way, Xiao Zhan.”
“Xiao Zhan? I think I know that name.” aunty said thinking abit and gasped and asked placing her hands akimbo.
“What’s your kind doing in a place like this? I never knew you guy would notice a place like this.” She said smiling.
“i-it's fine Mrs Wang. I think I like it here.”
“oh please call me Jie” She said and I frowned.
“isn’t it supposed to be aunty?” I asked and she smiled.
“That’s for you, but for this cutie,” She looks at Zhan with flattering eye.
“it’s jie.”
“I don’t know if I should feel happy or sad that he already taken a closer position to you than me. I wonder if I’ll still be receiving my extra free toppings.” I said teasingly.
“of course you would but for him, everything is free. I like him.” Aunty said winking.
“if Mr Wang hears that, I wonder what he would do. Boss, I think we should get out of here now because the Wangs are very dangerous when messed with.” I said smirking
“You brat.” Aunty glared at me and turned to Zhan again.
“Don’t listen to him cutie. He’s just like this.”
“yes aunty.” Zhan said smiling.
“aiyyaah you don’t talk much don’t you. Well anyway, you guys should have a seat now. I’ll you something okay?”
“free?” I probe.
“not for you.” Aunty glared and I chuckled as I head towards an empty seat with Zhan and Jingyi still in my arms.
