Haikuan walks into Mr Xiao’s office and found him standing next to his huge glass window, staring deep into the open busy city and lost in thoughts. It was when Haikuan called out to him did he noticed an extra body was next to him.
Smiling, Mr Xiao took a seat on his swivel chair and nods at Haikuan to say what he has to.
Haikuan sighed and hand over some documents to Mr Xiao who collected and looked through it and with a smirk he says.
“Is this all you got about them?”
“Yes.”
“Mmm that’s good. This is definitely enough to expose their cruel acts.” He says with an approving nod.
“so… what would be our next move now?” Haikuan asks which made Mr Xiao look up at him.
“nothing.”
“nothing?” Haikuan says frowning in confusion.
“Yes nothing.”
“there should definitely be something right?” Haikuan says and Mr Xiao smirked.
“As I’ve said we’ll do nothing. Knowing those jerks they’ll try their possible best to get what they want and would eventually make a mistake. Even if they don’t, that mistake would eventually come to them.” Mr Xiao says smirking.
Seeing the other’s confused look, Mr Xiao sighed.
“You shouldn’t worry any longer boy, everything is apparently about coming to an end and those goons whom deserved nothing but to be locked behind bars would be taken care of.”
“what made you so confident about this?”
Haikuan asks and his smirk grew wide before taking out a picture from his side and placing it on his desk for the other to see.
Haikuan looked down at it and saw a young, beautiful young lady and reading her profile, he got to know she work in Zhan’s company as a designer. As if getting a hint, haikuan looked at the elder who nodded as a reply and says.
“I would get what we’ve been looking for through her.”
“but how are we sure it would be..” he asks but was cut off in between.
“it would. It has to. She’s their weakest link and also their plan in getting what they want and those jerks thinking about getting my wife involved in those plans.” He shakes his head.
“they wouldn’t know what hit them.”
“but..”
“no more questions. You should go enjoy a little out there. Go on dates an stuff. You’ve been working hard Haikuan and I wouldn’t like it if you get stuck in this without you living your own life. Yibo would forever be grateful for your help.”
He says and sighed haggardly and Haikuan noticing it says
“I sense that isn’t the only thought in your mind. Is everything alright?” Haikuan asks though could put a guess the reason for the sudden change of mood.
“Haikuan, am I a bad father?” Mr Xiao asks out of nowhere and Haikuan looked dumbstruck.
“Not at all Mr Xiao. How did you come up with that question?”
“I think I am. For everything I’ve done. It’s… it’s as if I’m holding my son’s happiness back and it makes me feel very awful. I tried everything to protect them both. We didn’t had a choice but to do what we did right? But why do I still feel guilt eating my guts from the insides whenever I see my Zhan?” he sighed.
“I don’t know Haikuan. Should I have told him the truth? Maybe the situation would have been different and all we have to do is to protect them against those jerks and also Zhan might still have the hope that he’ll be back. So tell me Haikuan. Am I a bad father for wanting to protect my children?” he asks looking straight at Haikuan who sighed and sat down opposite him.
