It’s been over a month since Wangji and Zhan’s relationship began to blossom. Wangji has been flirting with Zhan, and Zhan can’t help but blush in response. However, they haven’t had any meaningful conversations or addressed the kiss they shared. Wangji is taking things slow, not wanting to overwhelm Zhan.
As his sipped his coffee while listening to Wangji who was explaining some work issues to him, Zhan’s mind wandered to his late fiancé, Yibo. His heart still ached from the loss, and he couldn’t shake the feeling that he wasn’t ready to move on. Yet, here he was, sitting across from Wangji, who was making his intentions clear.
Zhan’s thoughts were a jumbled mix of guilt and uncertainty. He didn’t want to lead Wangji on, but at the same time, he couldn’t deny the comfort and security he felt in his presence. Wangji’s gentle flirtations and warm smiles had slowly chipped away at his defenses, and Zhan found himself wondering if maybe, just maybe, he was ready to open his heart again.
As he gazed into his coffee, memories of his first encounter with Wangji flooded his mind. They had been strangers, always at awkward times, but over time, their relationship had turned into a tentative friendship. And now, Wangji was making it clear that he wanted more.
Zhan’s heart skipped a beat as he realized that he was willing to let Wangji pursue him. Maybe, just maybe, he would eventually fall for him too. The thought sent a flutter through his chest, and he looked up to meet Wangji’s warm gaze.
Wangji was discussing a project with zhan when he felt zhan not listening so he looked up and saw zhan looking straight into his eyes but seemed quite lost.
Wangji’s expression turned soft, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he set aside the project files. “Hey, Zhan? You okay? You seem a million miles away.”Zhan’s gaze didn’t waver, his eyes still locked on Wangji’s, but his thoughts were elsewhere. Wangji’s voice brought him back to the present, and he blinked, his focus sharpening.
“Yeah, sorry about that,” Zhan said, his voice low and husky. “Just lost in thought.”
Wangji’s eyes held a gentle understanding, and he leaned forward, his voice taking on a gentle tone. “You know, I’m here for you, Zhan. Not just for work projects. If you need to talk, I’m listening.”
Zhan’s face softened, and he looked away, his eyes misting. Wangji’s words struck a chord deep within him, and he felt a surge of gratitude toward this man who had slowly become his rock.
Wangji reached out and gently brushes a strand of hair behind Zhan’s ear, his touch sparking a flutter in Zhan’s chest. Zhan’s eyes met Wangji’s, and they shared a moment of understanding, the air between them charged with unspoken emotions.
Wangji’s touch lingered for a few seconds before he withdrew his hand, clearing his throat to break the spell. Zhan’s face flushed a deep crimson, and he looked away, his eyes shining with a mix of emotions.“Right, so…the project,” Wangji said, his voice a little husky, as he gestured to the files on Zhan’s desk. “I think we’ve got a solid plan in place. What do you think, Zhan?”
Zhan nodded, still looking flustered, but his voice was steady as he confirmed the details. Wangji listened intently, his eyes never leaving Zhan’s face, before nodding in satisfaction.
“Great, I’ll get started on my end then,” Wangji said, standing up and gathering his things.
With a brief smile, Wangji turned and left the office, leaving Zhan feeling both relieved and disappointed at the sudden departure. Zhan’s blush lingered as he watched Wangji disappear into the hallway, his heart racing with a mix of excitement and uncertainty.
Zhan was finally sitting alone in his office, his thoughts whirling around Wangji’s gentle touch and the flutter it had sparked in his chest.
